Any ladies with outside babies CDing yet? How's it going?

Mama's with inside babies - newborn stage plans?

I read somewhere the hardest step of CDing was just putting on that first diaper. That was true for us. We used disposables in the hospital, and took the rest of the stash in the room home for use the first day or two. Then it was go time. Holy shit. Loving it so far...minus the fact that my newborn CD rental was sent in two shipments and the second of the two was sent to the wrong person. Luckily, the bulk of it made it here. Even SO dove right in for the most part.

well... lo is still a little too little, despite my nb stash.. but we tried the gmd workhorse and cover (to see if it fit) and it worked fairly well considering it didn't fit her. I can't wait until she fits them.

Currently LO is to small to fit our cloth diapers. Hopefully soon I can use them

@JustCricket‌ - I've been surprised that even with the diapers that I could tell were not a great fit, we really haven't had any leaks. DS is pretty thin (gotta love when people comment how skinny he is when I'm already lacking confidence in my nursing skills) so his legs aren't quite filling out about 1/4 of our rental stash even on the smallest setting.

I've had the best fit with Kissaluvs fitteds. I'd love 100 more of them, but covers and fitteds aren't SO's favorite.

We started on day two in the hospital, once I could get up and walk after my c-section. He surprisingly fit into his Lil Joey's and THX. I was expecting a small baby, but he was 7 pounds 3 ounces at 37 weeks!

With that being said, he pees through them in less than two hours, but doesn't fit into bigger ones yet. I have been laying a newborn bamboo insert in them and it keeps him from leaking if I forget to change him at two hours.

My LO is 16 days old and just now 6lbs, so she is too little still for our cloth diaper stash. Hope to start using them when she's big enough. We do have enough disposables to get us through until then. Can't wait to start though!

Had him Friday, and put our first one on today! The first was awful but luckily I sent a pic to a friend and she helped me correct everything! Now I'm already feeling much more confident and excited

Doing well! Started when we got home Tuesday. DH has even joined in the diaper changing without being asked. No leaks. Glad we did the newborn rental. Didn't expect her to be this tiny

Doing AIOs and like the Blueberry and Kissaluvs better than the BGs.

We have newborn CDs - a few different kinds, but mostly straight up pre-folds. We also have enough newborn disposables to get through two weeks or so, I think. Are lots of people having this heavy-wetter issue? Wondering if it might be worth picking up some inserts just in case?

My son was just potty trained and out of his CDs in...April, I think? I am honestly dreading getting back into the diaper routine again. I have two big boxes of disposables and I'm hoping they'll last through the first few weeks until our BGs fit. My son was born at 7 lbs 4 oz and he was in them by 4 weeks old, so I'm planning on that (or sooner considering I'm nearly a week overdue!) time frame for the baby.

We're using gDiapers for the newborn stage. I'm used to them from using them on DD1, but it still drives me batty that the velcro secures in the back. As soon as her umbilical stump comes off, I'm just going to flip them backwards so it secures in the front. I also have kissaluvs fitteds for when she starts going through the night without pooping.

We're using prefolds and covers for the newborn stage. I love it so far! DS seems to be a heavy wetter now at 4 weeks and has some horrible blowouts. I've been wondering if there's something I'm doing wrong. DH got right into diaper changes and surprised the hell out of me. We have BG pocket diapers for when he gets a little bigger.

5 weeks out and we have been in CDs for about a week now. No newborn stash, just BG AIOs and 4.0s. Still trying to figure out the washing schedule... We have 23 diapers and wash EOD, and somehow we only have three diapers left while the rest of them are drying (which takes all day in this weather). Also, noticing a little bit of microfiber stink already. But I think this happened because I was washing the stash on "normal" in our HE washer... The load sensor comes up for the smallest load possible even with all the diapers, so I think it wasn't using enough water. Sooo long story short, I am now washing them on "bulky" to bypass the load sensor and hopefully use more water. But can I just say, I absolutely love CDing!

oooh good call on the 'bulky' setting on the washer. Once we get into the stash, I'll def have to try that out!

I tried a sunbaby size 1 on LO for the first time today. It's bulky under clothes but it fits way better than expected. She's 8lb 11oz, with a tiny little tush.

You should call the pedi and ask if there is a cd safe alternative to Vaseline. Or you could probably ask dr google. Haha

So we were waiting for his circ and cord to both be healed, and yesterday we tried cloth for the first time. He hates feeling wet. We went through 4 diapers in under an hour and a half because once he peed even a little it was a scream fest. Today I'm going to cut a few cheap flannel receiving blankets to make liners for the prefolds that will help him feel dry.

We were in the infant gdiapers (only disposable inserts) until yesterday when I noticed they might be getting a little snug. So, I tried the small size and they seem to fit. Might be a little big, but we're going with it because newborn sized disposable diapers that we received as a gift kept leaking. I love them so far. I hope he does!

And just for reference, I think we are about 8 lbs and some change, 20 inches long now.

I'm thinking the newborn stash we have does not fit as well as I thought. They were great - no leaks - when we first started. Now that he's putting out more, he pees out the sides of some of them. Still loving the Kissaluvs fitteds with covers. Lil Joeys are working for us still, too.

just getting started with them today. We still have a few disposable size newborn that were given to us, and I figure they will be outgrown if I don't use them, but instead of waiting until they are totally gone, I decided to ease into them over the next few days. My hubby still seems less than interested, but at least he got the primer on how to use them today. We just have NB workhorses and prefolds with covers. And 2 rumparooz fitted. I figured we'll figure out what we like before we invest for larger sizes. This our 3rd kid and first cloth diaper experience. Fingers crossed that the learning curve and drought in CA don't kill us!

I haven't had any problems with clothes. Like yes they look bulkier but I put her in a newborn onesie today with no problem. And she's already 8lb11oz.

This is more of a rant than anything, but we are using a newborn rental, and we are still waiting on the cloth wipes and the last of the diapers. (Everything was to be delivered 9/2.) I've emailed several times, and she's been helpful in the sense that she's been "working on it", but we are still waiting. I'm getting super annoyed.

Anyone else not loving how soaked the prefolds get? I do cloth at home and change every 2 hours and the prefold is soaked from top to bottom in pee. Def not what I was expecting when we set out to do this.

eta- I used it to try out the jelly roll on LO yesterday. The prefold itself fit GREAT... and then I put the gigantic "newborn" cover on and she was swimming in it. *sigh* I guess she needs a bigger butt (How many women wish they could say that? amirite?)

Not only do I not love it, but baby HATES it. My flannel experiment was a miserable failure. Next up is fleece... If that doesn't keep him dry and comfortable I don't know what I'll do.

I didn't know so many were using prefolds. From the sound of it I'm so so glad I went with pockets and didn't shell out for a newborn prefold stash. Sorry you're struggling with them ladies! Hopefully they work out better for you soon.

I have four thirsties covers & a dozen GMD prefolds. I didn't go full throttle just in case this didn't work. I can use the prefolds as burp cloths and sell the covers to get back about half what I spent. Not a terrible experiment... I'll just have to decide if we will try pockets or aio's or give up.

Same here. Only spent about $50 of our own money. Just not sure which road to take now.

All I bought were pockets too... though LO is still too small to fit in hers so we are going bankrupt buying disposables. When were you able to start?

I have sunbabies and started when LO was 8 lb 11oz and they fit great.

@mrsdanielleM2010‌ well fwiw my sunbabies were really affordable and I'm loving them so far!
