major decrease in fetal movement

Ftm and trying not to panic, but yesterday I felt somewhat flu like symptoms in the early part of my day (weakness, upset stomach, and nausea without vomiting) it passed thank goodness but I noticed that I hadn't felt the baby move all day. I went home and sat reclined which normally gets this kid bouncing off the walls, plus I drank some orange juice to sugar up, but nothing :( possible baby changed positions on me?

... Literally while typing this, with my tea resting on my belly I got a few reminder kicks from baby the it's in there :/ feeling a little better but would love to hear feedback on

  • Call your Dr.

  • I am 23+ weeks currently
  • I went through that on Friday. I'm 26 weeks and was trying not to over think it. Since then, the bean has been bouncing off the walls. When DD would do that and I was further along in my pregnancy I would put an ice pack on my belly to make her move ;) it worked like a charm!
  • 24w6d here and this past weekend I flew to Boston and noticed decreased movements all weekend, a few kicks here and there to keep me from completely freaking out, but definitely less. I kept reminding myself that this is normal, but I do have a personal Doppler so I pulled that out last night to reassure myself. If you're really nervous you can always put a call in to the doctor, but I have read that it's normal.

  • This happened to me too, and I spent a day panicking and even cried about it, but I knew it was normal. The other night she kept me awake all night long with non stop kicks and jabs. She's fine. :)

  • I could have written this post last night! Same thing, FTM, 23 weeks and waaaay less movement yesterday. Even though in my rational mind I know it's normal, it's still an unnerving feeling (especially being PGAL)... This morning I've already felt a few little ones, so I'm guess LO just wiggled themselves into a spot I couldn't feel as well yesterday. Sorry you were experiencing the same anxiety, but definitely call your doctor for reassurance if you're still worried!
  • At 24ish weeks, I noticed a decline for a few days in movement. I panicked, and then after a few days, she started kicking up a storm again and hasn't stopped. If you're really worried call your doctor for sure, but my hunch is that the baby will start movin and shakin again really soon. And harder.
  • I too have noticed low movement days, usually a few in a row. My daughter was always moving so it definitely makes me nervous and I usually use my home Doppler and find that he's moved somewhere else in there. If you are concerned you can call the dr, but like the others said, it can be normal at this point!

  • I'm 26w5d and I still have the odd day here and there where she isn't moving as much. At this point, I try not to read too much into it. I know it is a scary feeling, though.

  • My baby girl moved sooo much and now she's slowing down to the point where she doesn't move for an entire day my dr said it's normal for the movement to slow down. Also 1st time mama here
  • I have also been experiencing this and freaking out a little. The doctor said movements aren't consistent until 28 weeks. That's when they tell you to start the kick counts so I'm trying not to stress and just think uts probably normal.

  • This is pretty normal at this stage. However anytime you have concerns, it's best to call your doctor/midwife just to be safe.

I remember freaking out A LOT with my first. If I didn't feel any movement for a while, I would usually drink something sugary and most of the time that did the trick. Sometimes I would also try jiggling my belly in order to wake him up. I probably looked crazy but it usually worked (if you try this make sure no one can see you ;) ).

  • Most OBs would rather you be more cautious and call them as opposed to just asking an internet group, but as in pp, it's normal to not have regular or even daily movement. Even after the 28w mark, you may have a day or so of no movement. The baby maybe moving while you sleep and just not notice, you may be moving around enough to soothe it, or they may just be taking a break.
  • AggieMom0809 if you don't feel like I should seek advice/comfort from this group then I would prefer you not even comment. You are replying to a FTM concerns, I didn't know if it was typical and wanted to get some feedback if anyone had similar concerns. I don't want to waste my midwives time if it was something pretty normal.

That's not what I was saying. My point was that we can all tell you our experiences, but if you are even tempted or worried about something, you should still let your OB know. If you read the rest of what I said, it was to be encouraging that I've been through the same thing. I contacted my OB with my first pregnancy and was told it was okay to not feel them all the time, but to keep a log and let her know if I was concerned
