FTM here, and now I know why babies come out looking all cute, chubby cheeks, little fingers and toes... Because that gets you up in the MOTN! After not sleeping for more than 2 consecutive hours to change and feed them. Right when I feel like I hate this parenthood thing, I wake up to my LO just smiling at me in the morning, how can you resist right!
Any sweet moments you ladies want to share that just melted your heart and kept ya going after wanting to quit (pictures are always a plus!!)
@Valancyy - You beat me to finding an article. I saw that before too - so cool!
I agree that it's the smiles and giggly sounds. I get them mostly in the morning or after waking up from a nap (or sometimes when she's staring at the birds on her swing, or... the shelves above our couch...?).
One morning I was trying to pay bills. DS was kicking and fussing in his rnp. I kept saying hold on buddy I'm almost done! When I looked at him finally he stopped and smiled at me! Instantly made me feel bad for keeping him waiting but so happy that all he wanted was my attention and he was trying to communicate without crying! ETA pic but failed
It continues when they get older. My 2.5 year old has been a terror today and I feel like I have been yelling all day. Then he comes in my bed while I am nursing LO and says "mama I love you, can I come up there and be nice and cozy with you?" Now I feel bad for all the yelling. They have to be cute for us to deal with it all.
We were visiting our inlaws the other weekend and LO had been with her grandma in the other room. I walked in after a little while to see what was going on and when LO saw me and I spoke to her she gave me the biggest smile. It absolutely makes any sleepless night worth it.

Absolutely this! I always say kids are cute so you won't kill them.
After dealing with the 6 week growth spurt over the last week, I have been close to losing my mind. BUT on the flip side, 6 weeks is bringing more frequent smiles and even the beginnings of a little laugh!
Don't worry @zoegirlTX, it will come soon! My boy was very inconsistent with his smiling until he was about 7/8 weeks old. They all get there on their own time
Me too, @zoegirlTX ! Every now and then it's like, "he's smiling! That's a smile right?!" But nothing consistent and sometimes those smiles are in his sleep, so... Mine will also be 6 weeks on Thursday. Can't wait for smiles like in the above pics!
Re: Cute for a reason...
Actually, I've read that there really is an evolutionary reason for the cuteness of little babies and animals.
I did a quick Google search: https://www.stuffyoushouldknow.com/blog/babies-cute-explained/
I find this stuff interesting!
ETA: I am now reading about the evolution of Mickey Mouse...following a link in that article...stupid time suck internet.
