"when is the baby going to come?" rant

I am 39w and i look ready to pop I get it. But it's getting so annoying when all I hear is "still pregnant?" "When is she coming?" And other questions along those lines. I don't want to be mean but shit I don't f*ing know. Im waiting like everyone else, if Im over reacting then tell me. I'm I the one dealing with this?

Btw: Every time I leave the house I get "are you headed to the hospital? " so yea I'm annoyed.

  • My mom has been in the hospital and since I am done with work I visit daily. You would think healthcare professionals would be better. If I had a dollar for every nurse that asked me if I made a wrong turn and needed L&D, my L&D would be free.

So frustrating...I have 3 weeks left til my due date, too. Wth.

  • Yup. Annoying the shit out of me too. I've started avoiding phone calls as well. Especially from close friends and family who would be informed if we had the baby. I just want to say, well yeah...had the baby last week, just felt like keeping it a secret.
  • I'm also getting this from my 4 year old at home so it is neverending!  Every few days he'll say something like "she's never coming out!"

  • This is why I haven't told people my actual due date. I just said "early October". Drove me crazy when I went past my due date with my son and was getting constant texts and phone calls.

My 3.5 year old does this too!!  I think he believes that his little brother is going to come out ready to play with him.  Apparently his 1.5 year old brother is old news and he needs a new one :)  It's sweet, but occasionally annoying too.  I've been lucky enough to not have to suffer through any questions from adults about when #3 will be here though.

  • Yep. I've got one more week of work before vacation/mat leave, and I can't wait to get it over with so I can hibernate until birth. Then I won't have strangers asking me, looking at my bump with shock when I say Oct 25th, then predicting I'll go early.

Yeah thanks. I get it. It looks huge.
  • Everyone is just asking me how I'm feeling. I know people ask that of pregnant moms all the time, but now that I'm term it has a different tone.... like they're really asking, "Are you going into labor RIGHT NOW?"

My delivering midwife lives across the street from me and is truly a dear friend, but still I am tired of her asking me how I'm feeling every time I step into my yard!

  • This had been driving me nuts lately... Read some of y'alls responses to DH so he knows it's not just me! People have been getting nosier about my due date too... Saying "a couple weeks" is no longer sufficient anymore. Everyone needs to know the EXACT day -_-

  • Yup! And "oh youre carrying so high" or "you dont look as huge this time" what do you say to that? With my first, I told my mom I wished I could breathe fire at people every time they asked me a question.. its so damned annoying!!!
  • I have people asking if anything and everything I do is to try and start labor and EVERYONE telling me they are SURE I am having a boy. "You look like a basketball" "You are all out in front...it is a boy!" and other phrases that also mean "you are carrying huge=you must be having a boy!"

So over it. Just shut up everyone please.

  • Here too! I'm not letting it annoy me too much though. Just answering with, "yep, I'm still here", and then movin' on.
  • Was told twice today..."you look so pregnant!" Grrr...I just say "so do you!" It's so annoying. My favorite, someone told me that i didn't look as big as they thought I was going to be, because when I first told them around 16 weeks, I looked REALLY BIG already, they thought it would be a HUUUUUGGGEEE baby. Seriously. people need to chill with the comments. It makes me want to start leave now even though I still have 4 weeks left before DD. I'm tired of the comments and the "aww..how are you feeling? It must be so hard having to do this kind of work pregnant."

Okay, sorry about the rant, it's soo annoying.
  • I called my 5 year old nephew the other day to wish him a happy birthday. He wanted to know if baby was born yet. Asked when? It was cute but I kept thinking yes sweetheart I wish baby was born too or if I had an exact date for you. I guess he was asking my mom also. This kid is finally excited about having another cousin. I wish I could say I had an exact date cause maybe it would also get my butt in gear with what still needs to be done before baby arrives.
  • I was at a friends baby shower yesterday and this came up A LOT! Eventually I started telling people that I still had 2+ months to go (rather than 2+ weeks) and watching their eyes bug out.

  • Totally hear ya on this one... If I hear "Did you get your c-section date yet?" one more time, I'm going to pull my hair out! I'm sorry it's messing up your schedule, but can I find out first????

  • It's amazing the amount of stupidity that goes around. In one moment it's like, "OMG Are you having twins?!" in another moment, "Oh, sweetheart. You don't look past 36 weeks." in another moment, "When is he coming?" It's just annoying. I want to kill everyone.
  • I've been getting this for weeks, and I'm not even due for 4 weeks. I'm so sick of people looking at me like I'm insane when I tell them I'm not due until Halloween. A woman at the gym just the other day asked me if I was sure there is only one.

  • Agree with OP!!! And I'm right there with all PP's.  I did post on FB that I was due in October, even though my technical due date is today. Hopefully those on FB don't bother me - as they haven't just yet.

I'm also getting text messages from MY OWN SISTER (mother of two) and close friends asking how I'm feeling and if I'm having any contractions. I've started to NOT respond to those texts...so annoying. Obviously I'm not going to let them know when I get my FIRST contraction...but they will be informed if SOMETHING happens.

Right now, I answer my phone with "Have I had the baby yer?" when family members call. They seem to be getting a kick out of it...for now.

When I call family members, I have to say first thing "this isn't the call" so that they don't freak out.

It's very annoying at work, too. I don't even need to share my stories because all ya'll nailed it on the head lol.

This!  With my first, she was 10 days late, so it was 20 days of texts and calls.  This time, no one cares except DD.

  • My mother-in-law has been the WORST about this. I am due in a week and my husband decided he would surprise me and take me to a Nashville Predators pre-season game this past Saturday. When we left that morning, his mom called within 2 minutes of us leaving our house (she lives next door) and asked if we were going to the hospital. Luckily she called my husband and not me because I would have probably snapped. She called repeatedly throughout the day to "make sure I was feeling okay" and "hoping I didn't go into labor in Nashville". All this on top of her coming over every day throughout my pregnancy to ask me if the baby is moving enough, if I'm tired, etc. I am so done with it. Lol.
  • @kayluhmichelle I would ask if we have the same MIL, but I live across the street from mine so that wouldn't make sense :) But seriously I've been bothered constantly since we announced this pregnancy, sometimes with multiple calls/emails/texts a day. DH talked to her once and she cooled it a bit, but the first few months of that going on has made my patience that much shorter. I have stopped answering texts... I really don't want to be rude, but I just don't know what to say/do anymore to get her to stop without being really mean. And she's not mean... just really excited. I did not get this level of attention from her before I was pregnant. Lord help us when the baby actually gets here!!!

  • I guess I kinda like the attention of ppl actually texting or calling to see how I'm doing cuz they wouldn't otherwise. But what drives me up the wall is the "oh, you're so having a boy, look how you're carrying". Especially strangers. I get it, you're curious about what I'm having but keep your goddamn options about it to yourself....ok rant over ;)

  • I had scheduled c sections with my middle two and still heard "had that baby yet?" All the time.
    1. No
    2. You know when my c section is, stop asking.

This time I got a call from my doctor the day after my 36 week appointment saying they weren't letting me go past the next morning so I had to come in before the earliest tentative c section date was but even before that I had people asking if I'd already had the baby :/ it gets old quick

I am due on Halloween too ( I'm too lazy to update my ticker) but I'm so sick of the eyebrows. Or the squinty eyes and "ooooooo". I've been asked how I would feel if he was born on Halloween (I'd feel fine if it weren't for everyone else!) and I'm sick of the nicknames! My son has been called a warlock, goblin, demon baby.. I had someone say he was going to pop out like the movie alien! I absolutely hate that. The nurse at my nst last week kept trying to reassure me of the very low chances of babies being born on their actual due date but if he is, I feel like I will never hear the end of it.

@rawr1131‌ Oh, god, I haven't even stopped to think about what it is going to be like after our son gets here. We're probably going to have to lock the door and pretend we don't hear the knocking at all hours of the day. Lol. I am such a non-confrontational person, but I know I am going to have to put my foot down at some point and just be like, "Enough is enough." On top of all the pestering and her acting like I don't know what is going on with my own body, she has started here recently telling me that my husband and I are "buying too many clothes" for our son or that what we are buying is "so impractical" and will "never get used". I just want to shake my head and say, "Look, woman...you had your chance to raise your son. The only person's opinion I care about is your son's, so butt-out." I am so glad that we will be moving within the next year or so.
