Do your kids ask about having brother/sisters?

What's the appropriate response?

DD is five and asked if she could have a baby sister for her birthday and keeps bringing up how she'd like a baby sister and has even offered to help take care of her if we could. She was talking about it the other day and said "but I know that's God's decision". I don't want her to get mad at God though, because I'm guessing that a young mind might go that route eventually. (let's be honest, an old mind like mine has gotten pretty close to thinking that too)

I usually just tell her "we'll see" but am wondering if there are better responses?

DD has been asking for 2 years (she is 5 year old). We have just told her that we would like that to and hopefully it will happen soon. She seems to be happy with that (for the last 2 years)

DS talks about it pretty frequently. He's been to a few RE appointments with me and once said "is that the man we are going to buy a baby from?"

I just told him that it'll take awhile and that seems to satisfy him.

We haven't gotten that yet but DD is starting to be more interested in babies. I know she will ask someday and think we will just do the "we're working on it" response and redirect to something else.

He doesn't ask outright yet, but he's reeeaaaaaalllly into the new episodes of Daniel Tiger with the new baby. He gets so excited to talk about Daniel getting the baby, makes me feel a little bad.

I'm not sure that there's a "best" response.... sorry I'm no help.

Yes, but I think he thinks "sister" is food because he runs to the table when he asks

I just tell him that it is up to God if/when we get a brother or sister. He seems to get that but I am sure "But...why?" will come soon enough

My LO is too little to ask but our nieces and nephews ask all the time. I tell them "we are trying!" And leave it at that. The older kids usually have follow up questions so I explain to them about our losses and let them ask anything they need to understand.

DD expresses an interest in having a sibling and is becoming very interested in babies. I don't think it has ever even occurred to her that she could ask for one for herself, though. I think I would like tell her that I'm not sure or I don't know.

DD will be 4 in January and started asking several months ago if "we" could have a baby. Last week she even told her preschool teacher "My mommy is going to have a baby this evening!", boy do I wish it were that easy. I simply tell her "We have to wait for God to put a baby in mommy's tummy. I know you are eager to be a big sister and that you'll be the best sister in the world and God knows that too. God has a perfect time for everything so we just have to be patient." So far it seems to work. She often asks if we can pray for a baby. It is definitely tough!
