Knot in neck

edited September 2014 in April 2015 Moms
anyone Have a huge hard knot in the back of their neck? ENT told me it wasn't anything to worry about and that its just a knot but damn it is large and bugs me. I have tried rubbing it out and hot packs. My neck is cracking and popping allll the time lately. Could have something to do with my 30 pound toddler. Any suggestions? I keep telling hubby I need weekly massages. But he isn't buying it.

Re: Knot in neck

  • Try a rolling a lacross ball over it. I hope you get some relief!

  • I've had one for years that I attribute to always being hunched over grading papers. I'm going to talk to my OB at my next appointment to see if she'll let me see a chiropractor.

Is it super hard? Mine is and is just right of my spine and just below the hairline. It's annoying as hell.

  • Same here. I'm thinking it's from sleeping on my side more now. I need a new pillow or something. Having H rub it has been the only thing that really helps.
  • Heat, stretch, and go for a massage girl!
  • I use a tennis ball on the wall and put it wherever the pain is and just roll. Massage therapist I used to work with told me it's a good way to loosen knots especially if you haven't got anyone to help with it. And you can control the pressure.

  • My neck has been sounding like Rice Krispies. I've just been trying to stretch it out.

Yes! Same place. I'm always begging my husband to rub it, but that really only provides temporary relief. I get a massage once a month - also temporary relief. That's why I'm finally considering a chiropractor.
  • I've had awful knots on both sides of my neck but not much helps. I would love to see a chiropractor.
  • This is out there but maybe acupuncture? You never know...

Am I the only one that giggled at "tried rubbing it out" and then all the comments about it being hard and trying to get people to rub it for you?
    No? ?

Really, I can't be the only one!

Yes, totally. I was having such a hard time wording my reply above without feeling like a total perv.
