Trying to Get Pregnant

Waiting to do Something!

Happy Monday!!
The Waiting to do Something thread will be posted once a week (usually on Mondays) for those of us who experience long, extended cycles. Some of us are going through medicated cycles, some of us are going through testing and some of us are just waiting...to do something!

1. Cycle/month:

2. CD:

3. Medicated?

4. What are you doing this cycle?

5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!

6. GTKY: TTC can be tough on our egos, so take a minute to brag! What are some things that you are most proud of?
That's Kristine with a K...because I'm special.

9/2014 - DH SA normal, Me: CD 21 blood work: no progesterone, FSH still elevated
10/2014 RE Appointment for next steps

Re: Waiting to do Something!

  • 1. Cycle/month: 20+

    2. CD: 25

    3. Medicated? Metformin

    4. What are you doing this cycle? Drinking all the wine.

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! Been focusing on counselling and finding the best OB (no RE available) for my fertility issues. Not going so great.

    6. GTKY: TTC can be tough on our egos, so take a minute to brag! What are some things that you are most proud of?
I'm proud of my DD. She was born w/ a dislocated hip, but has become one of the best soccer players on her team. She had huge issues with speech delay and now is the most talkative 4 year old (turns four on Wednesday, omg!!) I know. She's the one thing that has helped me through our several losses and fertility issues. She's what I'm most proud of :)

Cycle 2, month 4 (teetering on month 5)

    Day 43

    Medicated: no

What am I doing? Having sex when I can muster up the energy. It's not as often as I would like but I'm just so tired lately.

What is pissing me off? My cycle, clearly. So, I knew I would likely have a long cycle right after BC but thought things would straighten out with #2. But it's been over 6 weeks and I haven't ovulated yet. I even bought a new bbt in case mine was lying to me, and have tested in the afternoon just to see if I can get a higher temp. It appears my original thermometer is working fine; it's my hormones that suck. I've had one period in over 17 weeks. Ridiculous. I know I have no control over it and long cycles just happen sometimes, but I feel like, defective.

GTKY- my job is going pretty well. But this ttc is really getting to me. Considering taking a ttc break but it wouldn't really be a break- I'm never going on hormonal BC again so I would still have to temp since my cycles are so unpredictable and it would always be on the back of my mind.
  • 1. Cycle/month: 0/2
    2. CD: unknown
    3. Medicated? no
    4. What are you doing this cycle? same ol.
    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! the 24 hour break did not appear to do anything. I had a dip in supply for a day. I can try a 48 hour break but I am kinda giving up on trying to mess with my system. I don't think it's in the cards for me until I've weaned. We shall see.
    6. GTKY: TTC can be tough on our egos, so take a minute to brag! What are some things that you are most proud of?
I'm a little proud that J has only had breastmilk (plus purees for fun) for 6 months now. It kinda blows my mind that my body has maintained both my health and hers at the same time.
I'm really proud of myself for sticking with cloth diapers too. I was super intimidated and now I feel like I get it. Bonus: everyone in my family and in-laws think it's awesome (to my face at least) and they have all opted to use cloth if/when babysitting rather that disposables. Only have to convince hubs....
  • Happy Monday ladies! Thanks for starting us off today.

    Cycle/Month: 5 trying, cycle 6

    CD: 22/1 DPO

    Medicated? Wine

What are you doing this cycle? Binging on Netflix and, you know, waiting.

What's been going on/pissing you off? Not much, I'm slowly approaching my last Waiting To Do Something post. Next week should by my last (does that make me a WTDS grad??), after that DH goes into drydock and should be home for the upcoming months.

GTKY: I'm currently learning Japanese, and although rather difficult, I'm getting pretty good at it.

  • 1. Cycle/month: some numbers.

    2. CD: 17

    3. Medicated? levothyroxine

    4. What are you doing this cycle? stil tta

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! So H and I had the dreaded conversation about what we want to do.... and it looks like we might put ttc on hold longer. I am devastated. We have been benched since our loss and I have an appointment with my ob in a few weeks to hopefully get unbenched, but now it looks like we might have to tta longer. We have had some life stuff come up with his job and my schooling and yea...
We still have not made an official decision, but I am pretty upset about it all.

  • @Cythe Sugoi!  I loved learning Japanese (though I'm stuck in romaji-mode, kana/kanji is hard); I should get back into learning a language... I miss it!

    Cycle/month: 4/5
    CD: 2
    Medicated? Nope
What are you doing this cycle? Crossing my fingers that since I'm 3+ cycles out of birth control that my body is not going to have another frustrating and long cycle.
What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?! Nothing!  Ow, though, I remember why I don't like my period.

    5. What's been going on?/What is pissing you off?!
Not much is pissing me off, I have an appointment with an RE/OB on Monday next week to discuss next steps. Nervous, overwhelmed, but ready to move on and get some cycles going. In other HAPPY news my sister is now to 30 weeks with PPROM at 24 and has a C-section scheduled for the last week of October so hopefully she and the baby make it 4 more weeks on hospital bed rest!

I am most proud of the relationship my husband and I have. This week will mark the point when I have known him for half of my life. Marriage is NOT easy, but it can be if you do it right (most of the time, life is still a biach). For being two people who any outsider would question that we could work because we are so opposite, we have shut them up after 14 years together.

And I completely understand your hesitation to see things in a way that may not happen the way your husband envisions. It's the inverse in my marriage, so I understand that. Your feelings are valid as well, and it's probably a part of what makes your marriage work. Someone has to keep the "dreamers" in check. We get so excited, it's obnoxious. ;) And congrats on your new certification! Job security FTW!

  • I'm not even going to bother with the first questions because they are impossible for me. Still no period (8 months pp) so waiting on that.

We are using the pull out method and while I'm kinda sad each time, if I m honest with myself I'm not REALLY ready to be pregnant yet.

GTKY: I am proud of having a home birth and still nursing (2 bottles a day though) even though it was really hard at first. I'm also proud of living fairly simply.

@Cythe‌ No rush on birth thoughts! I didn't even consider it until after I was pregnant and watched Business of Being Born (stereotypical I know). There are so many reasons, but here are a few:

-At my hospital I would get 1 of 8 obs depending on who was on call and I did not like half of them
-I felt that my midwife really took the time to explain things to me so I could make informed decisions and feel confident in her abilities and mine. Our appointments were 45 minutes long instead of 5 with the ob.
-I feel that birth is not a medical process and interventions have become far too common (obviously some people need interventions and I'm glad they are available)
-my first baby was placed for adoption so I wanted to make sure this one never left my sight. I knew nothing would be done without my consent and I just didn't have that level of trust on the hospital.

I could go on for hours on this topic. I loved my home birth and want to make sure all women know their options!

I want to add that I have no judgment on how anyone decides to birth. I just want people to be informed.

Eta: to quote Dave Matthews, "we knew where the beer was" at home. It was nice to be in our own bed that night.

  • @Catcherryesux‌ I totally get where you're coming from. Cycle #2 post-bcp was even longer than #1 for me and that was really hard. I'm hopeful that cycle #3 will be a little less ridiculous.

@ramaholic Hey, you started a new cycle! Can our reproductive systems get a clue this go around?

@Cythe‌ My brother took Japanese in college for three years. The only thing he taught me to say is "I am not an octopus." DH wants me to learn Irish so that I can understand him when he's drunk and belligerent.

@physiomeg1623‌ I know how you feel. I have dropped enough hints about my body not working right that DH gets that I'm worried about it and is supportive, but it's hard to get excited about something that may not happen. ((hugs))

    Cycle/month: 3/5

    CD: 9

    Medicated: nope

What are you doing this cycle?: trying maca root and coconut oil daily. The coconut oil has raised my bbt by .3 degrees, so there's that. I'm also being more diligent in my yoga practice.

What's been going on/pissing you off?: Just hoping (SOOO hoping) that I O before CD 46 this cycle. The maca root and coconut oil are supposed to regulate hormone production; I guess we'll see. At least they can't hurt and make me feel like I'm being proactive.

GTKY: I am proud of our continuing efforts to live independently from society. I can ( and have a bunch) butcher and process a chicken that I raised from a chick and make succulent chicken n' dumplings out of it. I can shoot a gun and get a pretty good grouping on a target. I can grow my own produce. I can sew my own clothes. I sleep better at night knowing that if it all went to Hell in a handbasket, we'd do better than okay.

  • @3houlagirl Yes, FINALLY.  I really hope my body doesn't follow the trend of adding 10+ days to every post-BCP cycle.  Maybe...-20 for once?  I'd be okay with a 42-day cycle.
