I'm only on day 2 of stims and I've been in bed half the day with a migraine. I'm pretty sure it's hormone related. Has anyone else had this problem? Did it get better?
IVF#1 (w/ICSI): BCP 9/9-9/23. Gonal-F, Ganirelix, Low-dose HCG (antagonist protocol). 41R/35M/32F... 2 transferred on 10/14, 14 frosties! On cabergoline to help avoid OHSS. BFN, possibly because of 90% drop in estrogen and progesterone a few days after ET.
FET#1: Transferring 2 on January 8. BFP! beta#1 (1/17): 408, beta#2 (1/20): 1310, first u/s scheduled 2/5
I think my headache faded around day 6 of stims.. But mine was also dull and more of an annoyance, not migraine level. Good luck, hope it gets better soon.
I suffered with headaches during all of my stims, however, it got better (or I got more used to it) as time went on. Good luck with yours and I hope you get relief soon!
Same as others--I had headaches, but not migraine level. My clinic had said to let them know if the headaches were persistent even after taking Tylenol. One time, I felt that it was persistent and the Tylenol didn't touch it. It was near the end of my stims. I told the nurse when she called with my instructions and she basically said that I had to deal with it. She said it was common and I should try to scale back on activity. I hope your clinic gives you some other coping mechanisms if this persists!
Thanks for all the replies. I can get through a couple days of this with excedrin. My big fear is that this would last the whole time I'm on stims. That does not seem to be common (at least not at this level).
My clinic didn't tell me I should contact them about any particular problem. I might ask for an rx for Zofran, though. At least I could sit up and eat if the excedrin doesn't work well enough.

@bluejoan I'll try the ice pack.
I had headaches during stim, though they did improve as I got used to the drugs.
One side note: my doctor didn't want me to take any aspirin-containing drugs during stim, and excedrin does have aspirin. I don't know if that's a universal rule, but you might want to run it by your RE.

@airidh80 I will ask the doc about excedrin tomorrow. I know it's not the best solution, but I figure for a day it's better than ending up in the ER for a migraine and dehydration from throwing up. (Note: not intended to be snarky.) Lesser of two evils.

My nurse said they prefer I restrict my med use to tylenol, but I can take some extra aspirin (since I am on low-dose aspirin anyhow) as long as I am not within a few days of ER. She also said that they place no restriction on caffeine. Aaaand, that's what excedrin is made of. They will not provide me with an rx for anything else.
I guess I'm left to my own devices for this. Tea and tylenol at the first sign of a headache.

This may sound crazy- I'm not sure if you're having light sensitivity, but I literally walked around with sunglasses on throughout my 3 weeks on BCP this cycle. The headaches were so bad that I got an MRI! Hang in there!

Just a clarification...migraines are not just a bad headache, it is a vascular disease so I would keep track of your triggers if you were diagnosed with Migraines. Especially if you had to go off your prophylaxic meds like I had to...For some of us of course high hormone levels in the blood can trigger it too. :-(
I had migraines pretty much every other day during IUIs on Bravelle, so I kept away from my triggers like bright lights, chocolate, strong odors, some cheeses, etc. I also developed a new trigger during the IUIs with loud sounds.
One thing that did start helping was acupuncture & smaller & more frequent meals...so you might want to try that too.
Hang in there Sweetie! The upside is pregnancy is supposed to lower migraine incidences in chronic migraine patients, so Fx for your BFP !
