My dry skin savior!

Hey ladies! Not sure if anyone else has noticed how dry their skin is but I have been super dry lately. I have been taking a warm bath with a cup of milk and baby oil (I just squirt it back and forth the length if the tub 2 or 3 times)and it's been doing the trick. When I get out of the bath I dry off a little with a towel but let the baby oil soak in the rest of the way and I've noticed a huge difference in my skin. I also have psoriasis so dry skin is always an issue for me. Just thought I'd share in case any of you were experiencing the same thing! Feel free to share any other tips you've found along the way!

  • I should mention that the bath shouldn't be over 100 degrees for baby safety. But I still found it super relaxing. :)

  • Even Cetaphil isn't getting the job done for me recently. It's insane how dry my skin's gotten. I'm going to give your milk and baby oil bath a shot. What kind of milk do you use with it? Whole? Dry?

I think I got 2%. :) I am pretty sure whatever you have in your fridge will work though.

I have a severe psoriasis on my scalp and have been avoiding medications since getting pregnant- I put coconut oil on my scalp for 30 minutes once a week and it has been doing the trick. Good luck ;)

  • Bumping this bad boy because it is also my winter dry skin savior. About to hop in one right now and read my book. This week I have been using Almond Milk (it's called silk for crying out loud) and it is working just as great.

  • @Lalalady54 have you noticed that your psoriasis is getting better or worse with pregnancy? Mine is looking pretty good thus far. I can't tell if it is from the pregnancy, my frequent baby oil baths, or the Vitamin D3 supplements I am taking but I am enjoying it either way.

    Baby GIRL on the way!!
    **All AL Welcome**

  • I've started using almond oil (and it has vitamin e) and find I'm liking it more than coconut oil.
  • Thank you so much for this thread!! I've been one itchy Momma this winter. I'm def going to try the milk/oil combo! <3

  • @allybells my doctor said that the clobetasol was completely fine for my scalp. I don't use it often but she said that when I really need it to use it because it's safe.

  • I wouldn't say my skin is any drier now than it is in the summer when I'm swimming a lot. I did find one summer that the Neutrogena body oil (I think I'm using target brand) works good for me. I just rub it on me when I get out of the bath tub and it works good. I've also used coconut oil but I really think the body oil works better or I just really like the smell.
    Fucking bump!!!!
  • SUPER dry over here...thanks!!
  • Cera ve cream has worked wonders for us. Both me and my lo have insanely dry skin. I have been using it religiously now for about 3 months and I don't get those little dry skin rashes like I used to. I also do coconut oil on my scalp for dryness and it really works.

  • @VeganOnTuesdays‌ thank you SO much for this! I still have small patches of Eczema pop up (more so during winter) but it seems as if during my pregnancy I have gotten more/worse patches (one on backside of calf left a scar) So hopefully this will help ease my itchy dryness!
  • Thanks for sharing!!! Can't wait for relief
  • My skin is dry also - I got some Lush bath balls for Christmas and have been using them. AMAZING.

  • I'll have to try this soon. I can't believe how dry/itchy my skin has become.

  • Interesting! I just have a super dry face. Nothing I've tried has helped. It just soaks up everything! Usually my Clinique moisture surge once a day does the trick but I am applying it 3 times a day and not noticing a change. :(

  • I should mention that my darling husband has almost died a few times hopping in the shower at 5am if I have forgotten to clean out the tub the night before. That oil is SLIPPERY!

  • Haha I would do that ^^.

I once left tanning spray in our shower, totally forgot to rinse it out, thank god it's an all glass shower so it didn't stain but DH's feet turned Oompa Loompa orange lol!

I have been taking baths like this for centuries :). I don't know how hot the water is but when I start to feel uncomfortable I get out. Usually ten in ten out.

A bit of interesting history.... Queen Cleopatra supposedly took all milk baths to keep her skin soft :)
  • @veganontuesdays sorry I didn't reply earlier, I am hardly on an actual computer bumping- my psoriasis has been better since second tri, my dermatologist told me to expect that which I find so odd since psoriasis is an auto-immune disorder and naturally I would think it would get worse being immune compromised (aka pregnant) vs better, but apparently my dr knows more than I do :)

However, I have never had eczema and now I have it showing up on my arms and legs, WTF body, WTF.
