Its been a long few days, but my girl is here. Sorry this is so long.

Short version: Paisley Katherine.
Born at 2:06 PM on September 23, weighing 7 pounds 6 ounces.

Long version:
I went in on the 23rd for an induction because of my GD. They hooked me up for an NST, since I was having some tightenings. I was having contractions 8-10 minutes apart, without them even giving me anything to start labor! They kept me on for a bit and baby's heart rate started to drop with each contraction. The doctor came in to check my cervix, I wasn't even dilating and the baby hadn't descended. Giving me any type of drug to start making the contractions stronger wasn't an option since her heart rate was dropping to 70 and my contractions weren't even that strong.

They told me I'd need a c section. I was really scared at first, I cried a bit but then got over it. They prepped me for the surgery, and wheeled me into the OR at 1:40. I got my spinal, got set up, and had Paisley at 2:06. She came out crying. Her cord was around her neck and shoulder.

They cleaned her off, and her dad brought her over for me to see. I was falling asleep, but I managed to kiss her and look at her for a few minutes before they took her to the nursery to examine her. They started putting me back together.

She weighed 7 pounds 6 ounces, and had a lot of hair! She was 20 inches long. I was in the recovery room for 30 minutes, then they wheeled me out to my room at 3:10. I was expecting my baby to be waiting for me there, but she wasn't.

The nurse came in and told me Paisley has a cleft palate. We had no idea, the nurse said they can hard to pick up on an ultrasound. I was confused since I was still groggy from all the pain medication. A specialist came in and explained that it's only her soft palate, and it shouldn't be too hard to repair. But she can't sleep or lay on her back, her tongue falls back into her throat. They tried to feed her with a special nipple, but the milk went into her lung.

The hospital I delivered at doesn't have a NICU, and that is where she needed to be. They told me they would be sending her on a helicopter sometime that night. I still had hardly seen her, and hadn't held her. She was on oxygen, and hooked up to a lot of monitors. At 11:30 PM they finally let me go see her. I managed to get out of bed, and they wheeled me out to the nursery. I still couldn't hold her. I could only look at her and touch her. At 5 the next morning, they took her off in the helicopter. Her dad went on to the city (3 hours away) as soon as he found out they were taking her, he got in at 2 AM before they had even taken the baby. He waited for her at the hospital. She got in at 6 AM.

She's been doing good there, she's off oxygen now. She has a feeding tube in place and she's doing great. She has to sleep on her side still. She's going to get fitted for a plate someday soon, when the "team" gets to see her. Surgery will probably happen sometime after she's three months old. I finally got out of the hospital today, and I'm going in tomorrow to see her. Her dad got to hold her for the second time yesterday, and I'm hoping I can hold her for the first time.
