This diagnosis is new news to me...it came up on my chart copy I received but I was never made aware of it.
And googling it, the symptoms are exactly why I went to my family doctor a few years ago in the first place before this infertility journey. I was having severe cramps and bleeding which would last up to 18 days of my cycle. The resident who treated me basically said "your menstrual cycle may simply be different after childbirth." I still pushed further with my doctor and it eventually got me the RE referral plus a diagnosis of fibroids and I'm reading misdiagnosis of adenomyosis as fibroids is common.
Anyways not sure what I'm looking for exactly...just I guess someone to commiserate with

Re: adenomyosis anyone?
Causes are unknown but theories are that it could be related to previous pregnancies. Some things seem to say maybe due to increased levels of estrogen (I know that my estrogen/progesterone balance was way off).
Often it's asymptomatic but heavy, long periods, mid-cycle bleeding, abdominal pressure and pain, etc. The uterus can double or triple in size.
Treatment options are more to treat the symptoms. Only "cure" is a hysterectomy.
There is mixed opinion on whether this can impact fertility. With the medicated cycles, my cycles seem to be "normal". I had been thinking that low progesterone had been one of my problems this whole time but now I wonder if the progesterone wasn't as much an issue as this adenomyosis which has been treated by the progesterone. Anyhow, I have an appointment coming up to discuss this all in detail but of course I'm crazy for as much info as possible in advance of that.
