Talk to expecting mom about baby bjorn, or not?

A friend of mine is expecting a baby in about a week and a half. I noticed on her registry she has a baby bjorn, but one of the ones that isn't very supportive. As a new mom, I'm sure she likely doesn't even know about other options like the Ergo, etc. Would you say something? The carrier is $150 and hasn't been purchased yet, and I would hate for someone to spend that much money and later regret it. (For the record, if she is aware of the options and still wants this one, that does not bother me.)

  • I didn't hate my bjorn. But I also didn't use it a tonne because DS was far to heavy! Honestly, I likely wouldn't say anything but that's just me.

  • Please do! I recieved 2 bjorns because I was registered for them and got almost no use. I bought a moby wrap but ended up just getting away from baby wearing. I so wish someone could have given me advice on what to get!

  • Are you close to her? If you're close to her, I would probably say something. I try not to give mommy advice unless someone asks but in this case, offering a second option probably isn't a bad idea. When I was pregnant, I actually had no idea that there was any option other than a Bjorn.

  • We're coworker/friends but have known each other for about 5 years and are fairly close. I did bring it up and she didn't seem bothered by it, thank goodness. She thanked me for the advice and said she had actually been looking into some other carriers more recently on her own already. I just wanted her to know about options ($150 is a lot to spend without researching!) so I'm relieved it went well. As always, thanks for the advice ladies - it frequently keeps me from putting my foot in my mouth!

  • I always liked getting advice when I was pregnant as I had NO idea what was good and what wasn't. I now give new mom's-to-be suggestions for products I really like and products I didn't like. I always feel like they can take the advice or not. I'm never pushy about it. Unless there is something I feel is harmful or dangerous.
