Neighbor wwyd

We just moved into a new neighborhood and the neighbors have invited us over at night for fires, (all outside). Would both you and your DH go? Even though kids are in bed? We really aren't sure what to do, we can see our house from yard and could bring baby monitor.

Re: Neighbor wwyd

  • Maybe go once and see how you feel, and one of you can go home after 15 or 20 minutes. I think if I could see the house and the monitor had the range I'd be ok with it.

  • I'd go. It sounds like fun and I'm sure it would be nice to have some friends in the neighborhood! I used to live in a duplex when ds was a baby, I would bring the video monitor and hang out with my friends who lived in the other apt all the time.

Dh actually lived over there, too, but this was before we were even dating. Had I not gone we probably would not be together today!

  • I think I'd only be comfortable if my monitor reached. Ours has a long range but our neighbors are all older...so they go to bed before we do. But it works great in our own yard!

With that said, I'm still majorly attached to the video monitor...DH keeps saying he is going to take it away from me. I know we can hear J if he cries but still I peak at the monitor a few times every night, especially to check the temperature read out.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • We do this already with our neighbors.  We use the iphone/ipad baby monitor ap if we're in their yard because then it operates on our WIFI which reaches farther than our monitor plus it has video and voice activated monitoring.  If we're in our yard, we just use the good old-fashioned audio monitor.  We make sure the house is locked up tight, and one of us goes in to check every 15 to 20 minutes.  DH and I often joke that we check on DS way more on nights like this then when we're actually in the house.  Seriously, if we're both in the house, we lay him down and check on him once before we go to bed about 2-3 hours later.  We didn't start doing this until DS was consistently sleeping through the night.  I wouldn't be comfortable doing this with a child under the age of 6 months.
