Pink discharge?

Hi ladies. I did not have this with my boys. This morning I had some pink discharge and what felt like RLP. Anyone had this before? I googled, but some sources say to call your caregiver anytime CM changes and don't want to blow this out of proportion. Thanks!

  • I've had that for the last 24 hours. It's normal and a sign that things are changing. Definitely call, though, and let them know.

  • I had that after my second cervical check. Then I had red and brown spotting after my most recent cervical check. My OB said it's normal.

DH and I have been married 3+ years. This is our first PG, and we are thrilled!
Can't wait to meet our baby BOY, Mateo in October!!
  • I haven't been checked yet. I texted my OB, and he said it was fine. Didn't give me a whole lot of info there! At least I checked in with him. I had a little bit this morning, but not as much as yesterday.

  • I haven't had any checks lately but I went to the bathroom a minute ago and had a red spot. I'm 38w 2d with number 3 and I'm not sure what to think

No water or mucus or anything else
  • I read that pink discharge could be your water leaking/breaking. Pink or brown could be fetal bowel movements? I'd call to be safe. :)
The mucus plug is capable of regenerating, so if it is that there is probably nothing to worry about.
  • yall need to stop having all the fun when i'm away!

Okay, curiosity got the best of me. I was trying to figure out where that BM statement could have originated from.

Turns out a fetus can't have a BM while in utero. And if they do, well, shit can get bad real quick. Pun intended. https://www.answers.com/Q/Can_a_fetus_have_a_bowel_movement_in_the_mother's_uterus

    Meconium ain't pink.

Word. It most def is not pink. There was meconium present when my water broke and it looked like you'd expect shit to look. Brown.

  • Meconium is usually some form of greenish-brown and if it's been expelled by the baby in utero, you'll only know when your water breaks. It doesn't come out as a separate discharge.

Ugh why did I read that? Now I'm going to be irrationally worried that my baby is going to poop in utero and I'll have no idea. :(
  • I thought they only normally go if they are past full term. My DD did. But I was a week over my due date before they induced.
  • Yes, it's usually a sign of distress, typically towards the end of your pregnancy during labor. It's not something to worry about, there's literally nothing you can do about it and no, you won't know until your water breaks.
