Do I need to convert?

We are having sleep issues here. She had a bad dream last week and almost climbed out of the crib. She was screaming and shaking so bad out of a sound sleep. Now she doesn't want to go to bed in her crib at night. She naps there but won't at night. I left a night light on, I dunno what else to do. When I try to let her cry it out in the crib she tries to climb out. I freak out, I'm scared she will hurt herself. I'm not liking the idea that I may have to change her to a toddler bed. She is still my baby. What does O12 say?

  • Honestly, switching A was the best thing we did. She HATED her crib. Hated. Would not sleep there for more than 15 minutes. I switched her over and she STTN after a week.

  • We never had any problems she slept perfectly for a year straight until this 1 bad dream. It is the 11 and she is still awake avoiding sleep in my bed.

  • We converted to a toddler bed because ds was climbing out. It was an awful and hard transition. After about 3 wks know he seems to being doing better. I do highly recommend and good quality gate.

  • Its worse today she won't go down for a nap in her room yesterday she slept fine in there for 3 hours.I took the springs put of the crib and put the mattress on the floor inside of it. She was still able to climb out. Caught her just before she fell over the side. She fell asleep on me as soon as I sat in the couch. I laid her on the couch but she wakes up as soon as I try to bring her in her room.

  • Yea.. She was so excited when she woke up from her nap and saw her big girl bed. She snuggled in it, played in it, showed mom mom and pop pop. Bed time came she won't go near her room. Screams when we try to initiate her usual bedtime routine. My husband asked her is the bed not comfy "no", is it too hot "no", are you scared in your room "yes". My heart is broken. I don't know what else to do. One of us is going to try and sleep on the floor next to her in her room if we can get her in there. I even tried telling her she could watch the iPad in her big girl bed (MOTY) she sxreamed, stole the iPad and ran into the pitch black living room where she is watching it quietly by herself.

  • @Hismom12 and @chricast

Have you tried changing your bedtime routine? You might be able to get them into their beds if they are really tired and don't quite see it coming. If something has scared them and they are afraid it might help them to have one successful experience sleeping in their own bed at night again, not matter how you get it to happen.
  • Hope it gets better soon :(

  • Ds2 slept in the floor for about 5 days when we converted. He now goes and gets in his bed.
