Ankle Sprain? UPDATE - that was so bizarre

Hi Ladies...I haven't been posting much the last couple of weeks...I think I may have sprained my ankle, which is bizarre because all I did was stand up and all of a sudden it hurt and the pain has gotten so much worse. I now can't put any weight on it. I can't believe this is happening! I need to contact one of my dr. offices to see what I can take for pain and if they can call anything in. Would you call the ob or family practitioner? Thanks, Ladies. My ipad will probably lump this all together...sorry for the huge paragraph...so, the swelling and pain went completely away within a couple of hours, I as convinced I sprained my ankle and that I'd be on crutches today. I went from not being able to put any weight on it and a 9 out of 10 (and I have a. Pretty high pain threshold) to a 2 and being able to walk around just fine. This morning it doesn't feel totally normal, but it's not really painful and I can totally walk on it. What the hell kind of pregnancy thing is that????

DH sprained his ankle (actually broke it), just over a week ago. I'm so sorry you're going through this. :(

I would call your GP for care, but follow up with the OB to confirm the safety of whatever you're prescribed? You might be encouraged to have an xray or mri too, depending on the severity of the swelling/pain.

Best of luck for a speedy recovery! Crazy timing. :(

  • I would call both regarding pain meds and treatment.  I found when I sprained my ankles (and I've had some bad ones) that elevating my foot, rest, and ice for 20 min every 3-4 hours helps.
We are so excited to grow our family!

  • Also what @sabby2‌ said! Before DH confirmed the break, he was told by the urgent care to keep it elevated above his heart and to ice 30 minutes 3x per day.

  • Thanks, Ladies...I called the GP and he asked a lot of questions and mentioned a sprain vs. blood clot. He said sounded like a sprain but mention of a blood clot flipped me out so I called the ob. She said I was right to call but also thought it was a sprain but stressed that if I had any more doubts to call her. Icing now and tylenol is all I get, which I kind of figured. Will go to urgent care (on-site X-rays, which my GP doesn't have plus super quick service) tomorrow morning. So thankful for you ladies!

@meagpt22‌ ...that's kind of what I was thinking. I had noticed this morning that my hips were both hurting, which they haven't been. Actually was kind of glad bc I haven't felt like my body's prepping at all...guess it is!

  • Don't have one in the house, but getting it up and ice has really helped!
