Re: Gender poll

  • Doesn't really matter to me but I hope it's a girl so I can convince DH to try for #3.  He only wants 2 but really wants a boy so if this is a girl I have grounds for #3.

  • I am hoping to have a girl because me and my sister were super close growing up and I want that type of thing for my daughter.

But really I would be happy with a boy because it would be a new experience. And really who's to say my daughter wouldn't be just as close to a brother? :)

  • I have a boy already so we are really hoping for a girl this time.  I'm probably only having 2 and I have always wanted to have a daughter.  That being said, I already have a boy feeling about this one.

  • All you second time mommys. Did you have a "feeling" of the sex of baby before you found out? And if so was it right?
  • @dneilxo‌, I was team green (didn't find out till birth) and thought it was a boy the whole time and was right :)

  • @dneilxo I thought it was a boy and I was right!

  • It's so weird how us mommys have that extra sense! Lol I knew I was having a girl before I found out, and I was right as well!! I have a feeling about a boy this time. Time will only tell!!!

I was team green last time and thought boy but wasn't totally convinced, but he was yes haha.
This time I've already had overwhelming feelings of a girl and it's sooo early on! Last time at this point I still didn't believe it was real!
  • I thought my first was going to be a boy.  I even started calling it my choice for boy's names.  I was wrong!

  • I want a boy, because I don't have one. But I'd love for my girl to have a sister.

  • My MIL had three boys and always wanted that little girl and my parents already have a grandson, so a girl is most desired in the grandparents. DH and I are more masculine-type people so a boy sounds easier. But we'll be ecstatic no matter what comes out of my ute.

  • I don't think I'm posting this reply correctly, but trying to reply to CrazyCupcake52...
I'm curious for your reason for posting this here. Is it to increase awareness that some people are born intersex, or that they can end up choosing a different sexual identity later in life, even if they are born one or the other?
I'm a big fan of the gingerbread person, but I also "want a girl". So I'm curious about your reason for posting that here. Hope that makes sense :)
    Thanks!

    Just a reminder:

  • Ah, I see! Thanks for clarifying. So what sex you are hoping for is a more accurate question. Gender just sounds so much more PC ;)

  • MILs both want a girl, DH and I want a boy, DS wants a sister.  We'll all be happy with whoever we get.  :)

No feelings of gender last time around but we were thrilled to have a boy.

  • DD wants a little brother. I'm fine either way.

@carolyngrace, I think @CrazyCupcake52 was pointing out that there is a difference between gender and sex and it's important to use the terms correctly and be sensitive to those whose gender identity and sex organs don't match.

    ETA clarity

ETA again: We can identify our babies' sex with an ultrasound or at birth, but their gender may not be clear for quite a while--that's why the genderbread person applies here.
This exactly!  I have seen many debates (sometimes fights/feelings hurt) due to the use of gender vs sex.  Although most people like to use gender, because it sounds less offensive when asking about baby, technically they should use sex.  We can only determine the biological sex of the baby using u/s, and sometimes that is even wrong ;)
  • I just want a healthy baby!

  • After all we've been through, I seriously just want a baby.. it's hard for me to answer this. I'd LOVE either, truly.
But if you twist my arm- maybe girl. I've always envisioned myself with one.
  • I already have 2 boys (one bio one step), so I am kinda hoping for a girl. I had serious boy vibes with my first, and DH says he felt the same about my younger boy. I am getting slight girl vibes so far, but really only because my symptoms now are opposite from the first trimester symptoms last time. I know there's no science there or anything, but it gives me hope. Even my cat and dog are male, so a DD would be very nice.

    Love, love, love!!! @CrazyCupcake52‌
  • Either as long as he or she is healthy :)
  • Just wanted to pop in to see if we have covered the gender/sex situation...

I see we have by post 2.
Situation thoroughly covered, though with a disappointing lack of GIFs!
Feel free to add some :)
  • I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that everyone cares more that they have a healthy baby than about the baby's sex.

But I'd like my healthy baby to have a penis because this is our last child and I've always wanted a boy.
