Baby movement

Okay mamas. Is it normal to feel movement quite a bit one week and not as often or consistant the next week? Still feeling her, just not as much as last week. I'm driving myself crazy worrying but I think it's probably normal, just me worrying again. I am 21 weeks 5 days with first baby :)

Re: Baby movement

  • Yes. Movement doesn't become consistent until you're into the third trimester. My OB doesn't worry about inconsistent movement until after 28 - 32 weeks.

  • Okay good to know, thanks!! It's just weird that I felt her so strong and consistant last week and much less noticeable this week.
  • No problem. She's still pretty tiny so she probably just moved to a place where you can't feel as well.

  • Totally normal.  Some drs have their patients do kick counts, some do not, but these do not even start until 28 weeks.  As you get further along, you will start to notice some patterns of when your baby is most active.  For some, it's after eating a meal, eating something sweet, drinking something cold or working out.  Also, the most common time for baby is be active is between 9pm and 1am when your sugar levels start going down.  I have never been a religious kick counter but do find it comforting to sit quietly for awhile to feel baby moving.  However, at this point, I'm not super concerned since it still quite early.

  • Yes completely normal. My doctor didn't have me do kick counts with DD at all. Once third tri started he just said if I didn't feel her move during her normal time try and get her to move. If still no movement for a bit to call. This time I felt this little one move at 15 weeks for the first time and hadn't felt him/her since. Yesterday at 18 weeks and 1 day I felt him/her move again.
  • Totally relate! I'm also 21 weeks and am finally feeling some nice jabs-- and then when I don't feel him/her as much the next day I start worrying.

First tri it was lessening or no symptoms.
    Second tri it is movement.

I guess we are always going to worry about something!!!

  • Boxerrrmama85, we seem to have lots in common in that area. I too worried in first trimester about no symptoms as if some how the baby would dissappear without me knowing it because often I didn't feel pregnant. Now movement.

Thanks everyone for helping ease my mind about this!!
