My Midwife left the practice... 39weeks!!! Vent!

My 39 week appt was supposed to be yesterday, when I was called to reschedule today and only one of the docs could see me I didn't think anything of it since my midwife is usually on call at the hospital on Fridays.... Went to my appt and everything was fine only to have another preggo friend send me a picture of a Facebook post from a moms group that she left the practice!!!! They never even told me at my appointment!!! Her number was shut off and everything!!! I'm absolutely in shock and devastated... Have been planning for natural birth and let's just say the other docs are not as naturally minded as I would like..... Seriously what would you do?!

    Well, at 39 weeks there isn't much you can do.  What do you mean by "natural birth" exactly?  Were you thinking pain med free?  The docs aren't usually there through labor so it is more the nurses you have to work with for a majority of the time.  Doctors tend to show up when it is time to push and that is about all so really there isn't much they can change at that point other than suggest interventions which you can decline or accept.

    I would say get the nurses on your side and have them be your advocates during delivery.

    That is truly upsetting but the advice here is dead on. Have someone there to advocate for you and it won't matter who is there to catch the baby. Your nurses are the ones who are really involved with the labor process and many facilities are very happy to accommodate med free births. Good luck
