So much for date night....

So DD was supposed to spend the night with my parents so DH and I could have a date night, which has not happened in months. They were also going to keep her all morning tomorrow so we could have an easy morning. Well, of course, as always DH has to work. I am getting so annoyed with his work. I never know until that day if he is going to be late and if he works Saturdays we do not find out until Friday. Plans are ALWAYS getting canceled. I was SO looking forward to tonight. We really needed this night. DD's terrible 2's are in full swing and things have been stressful. We also have been busy every weekend for months now. At this point who knows when we will get another opportunity. I wish DH would just say no sometimes. I have tried to express this to him, but then he gets defensive. Ugh, I miss our alone time.

    What does DH do for a living? Unless he's an emergency surgeon or something, he needs to put you first in situations like this, when you have big plans! Not right!!!

    Thanks ladies! Our night consisted of DH going to bed early because he had to be up at 4 and me passing out at 9:30 watching TV. What a fun night! DH works for a printing company and actually runs the large printers. That means when a client gives them a large job with a short deadline guess who has to stay late and work weekends? I understand it happening every once in a while, but I cannot handle the frequency it has been and how last minute we find out. I am so tired of canceling and or rearranging plans. It is hard on DD because she goes to the back door, opens it, and calls for Daddy. She does not understand. Plus, it is now 6:30 AM and DD has been talking in her crib since 5:30 which means mama has been up for an hour already. It is going to be a long day!

    So sorry lady. I understand the disappointment. DH is a manager of a retail bank and their call nights and sales efforts are unpredictable sometimes. We actually planned a date day for tomorrow because we could actually get a sitter from 2-7. Not the best hours but it's better than nothing!

    H and i just had this conversation. We've challenged ourselves to a mandatory date night once a week. Our first is this Wednesday, we are going to switch houses with my IL's one night (well, until 10pm) so we can enjoy their hot tub and a bottle of wine. While they hang with J and put him to bed!
