Emotions and Hormones

edited September 2014 in October 2014 Moms
Last time I was induced and never really went into labor. And of course now I have a toddler who changes things.
So, what I am wondering is how did emotions change before you went into labor? I have been feeling irritable/edgy the last week-week and a half. And I'm feeling really down and sensitive tonight. Normal for anyone else? I'm assuming with changing hormones to bring on labor something like this is to be expected.
ETA: Oh, and how soon before labor (roughly) did things start changing in that respect?

Re: Emotions and Hormones

  • Sorry I don't remember with last pregnancies but I wanted you to know that you are not alone. Before I even made it to work yesterday I was so annoyed...at absolutely nothing!!

  • I feel just like you right now.  I took DS to Disney's Animal Kingdom last week and started crying when we watched the Lion King show.  I really had to pull myself together. I swear my swing between annoyance and weepy are almost laughable. I seriously thought I just needed to watch The Notebook last week just to get a good cry in.

  • Yep, I've been feeling really sensitive lately... not the crying kind but the really irritable kind. Sadly, I really don't think it's any kind of sign of labor but probably has more to do with feeling the anticipation of delivering a baby and how uncomfortable/tired our bodies are.

  • Oh goodness, I had a moment like this today... I was driving into worked and getting so mad about work stuff, I felt ready to snap someone's head off. Luckily it dissipated before I got to my meeting... with all the people I was steaming about, haha. I think it's just end of pregnancy hormones but glad I'm not alone!

  • My emotions are all out of whack. I cried at work on Monday just because my co worker was being cranky and I didn't want to deal with her. Then I really cried at a picture on the beach that said "Don't Quit Your Daydream" because it reminded me of when we used to live in Florida and how much DH and I miss it and want to go back. Don't know if this has anything to do with impending labor, hopefully not because I have 3 weeks left and would like to make it through them!

  • Nice to know I'm not alone.
I wasn't thinking labor was right around the corner but I wondered if there was some correlation of it being toward the end, even something like a few weeks before or something.
    Thanks ladies :)

  • My students got a little bit of the pregnancy wrath today.  They just kept asking the same questions over and over and were not following directions at all.  This is not anything new and usually I'm not too irritated by it, but I just snapped today.
