I am trying desperately to be healthy during this pregnancy because I really don't want to deal with the aftermath later.
But...
Peanut butter and jelly? My unborn child isn't interested. Puke.
Chicken noodle soup? Psh. NOPE.
Sugar free pudding pack? Try again.
Cheddar and sour cream chips from the work vending machine? Ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!
WTF?! PB&J makes me vomit but cheddar and sour cream chips go down like nothing?!
Oh, the LO also loves grilled cheese as long as it's not made with Mexican shredded cheese.
Any tips, tricks, suggestions? I will be ginormous if we keep this up.

Re: My unborn child only likes junk...
Tart and thick fruits I can tolerate - like peaches (if not too sweet), pears, some apples, and orange juice with pulp and lemonade.
I don't run to the vending machine on every whim. I lost 8lbs. in the first trimester. Trust me, I'm not a junk food fiend, thank you very much.
But there's a point where you're fucking hungry and anything that will stay down is what you go with.

I found ice cream goes down easy, too. I did pick up Ben & Jerry's yogurt. Same flavors, just with yogurt. I didn't feel so guilty.

Every pregnant woman indulges in something unhealthy. Nothing wrong with that in moderation. The way your OP sounded was you choose junk over the healthy options too much. Yes, sometimes you can't keep anything down except ice cream or chips, but there are many things you can substitute as well as using self control on what you eat every day. Instead of ice cream try frozen yogurt. Instead of greasy Lays chips try pita chips or baked chips. Instead of candy try your favorite fruit. There are easy ways to avoid junk and still getting your cravings satisfied...
If it makes you feel better I gained a normal amount of weight. I think what worked for me was trying to stay active. I walked a lot and I think that helped.
I'm all about making healthy choices but you also need calories and nutrients. What worked for me was eating what I could (even if it's pizza and chips or whatever) and lots of walking.
Sorry no tips on tricking you body into eating different foods. But staying active can help with excess weight gain if that's your concern
And I do take prenatal vitamins, though I was literally in the middle of taking them yesterday when I had to flee for the bathroom. But normally I take them and they stay down
I like some of your suggestions. Thank you!

I found that adding in bland fruits and veggies first helped get use to it again. Smoothies also have really helped. But honestly don't beat yourself up, eat what you can to keep your strength up and know it will get better. 14 weeks and I can FINALLY drink water again!!
I haven't ventured back into the world of meat though. I dont think I ever could. It's just been too long and it's too weird to me now.

Are there (quality) Indian food places near you? Maybe you could just start having it around all the time so he has no choice but to aquire a taste for it
right now It seems like you need to eat what you can, when you can.
I had to remind myself of that daily for the first 13 weeks. I felt like a horrible person and mom for eating all the junk. it was all I could get down, and keep down. when the ms passed things got better.
keep taking your vitamin and keep trying to get in some healthy stuff. it got better for me. now I eat everything in sight! good, bad, don't matter as long as im eating it LOL!!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!!
I'm able to keep most foods down now in smaller portions. But I still don't like most junk food. The sweets make me gag shortly after eating. But trust me, I do try them every occassion I can. One of these days those amazing looking cookies will stay down without a fight. lol Drinking water does help me feel better.
I mostly eat fruit right now. Sooo goooood!! Basically nature's candy... I'll take it.

Besides that, I get what you're saying OP. And yes, I think some people use pregnancy as an excuse to eat shit, but I also know some people really struggle with keeping any food down and do what works. I think Cindy jumped down your throat unnecessarily.
People talk in the random thread about the shit they eat all the time and I never hear people get pissy about self control so I don't know where that piece of judgment came from.
