Best bottoms question

Haven't some of you mentioned skipping a size? Is it medium that you skip?

Though it matters some which type of insert you're using. For example, there is little difference between a size S and size M hemp insert, and not too much between a small and large hemp; but a rather noticeable difference between a small vs large stay dry.

I personally have all the sizes, but for the most part I think it's pretty easy to skip over medium and not have a problem once you unsnap at least one rise level.

  • Except that actually P is in mediums now. The smalls didn't last very long, and E is wearing the larges.

  • Although that's just out of convenience, as I borrowed them from a friend. The cotton/hemp large is the same size as the stay dry medium.

  • Ok... I'm buying someone a cover, and only want to include one insert. Which one would you pick? After reading that all, I'm leaning towards a medium hemp/cotton...

  • LOL, I only did mediums.....then I changed to using flats and haven't bothered with ordering larges. I have some custom bamboo flats that were made with snaps supposedly to keep the folded flat into an insert.....if I fold them correctly, I can have a corresponding snap in the correct place to snap my pad folded flat in my BB shells. I don't snap them the way they were designed because I don't want to have to unsnap them to wash.

  • I use the cotton hemp and had no need for medium.

  • How does one know what size they have? I would go look, but I'm not at home and I'm curious. I'm 87% sure all of ours were gifted to us.

Small have green stitching.  Mediums have white.  And larges are blue.
  • Smalls have green edging, medium is white, and larges have blue stitching.

  • Jinx @JEPES1348  I think this is the second time we have answered a question at the same time.
  • There's enough difference between the medium & Large MF inserts (and the Large MF would be super bulky at the 2nd smallest rise setting) that I wouldn't suggest skipping.  But there is very little difference between the medium and large hemp inserts so skipping is easy (I only own 1 medium hemp).  Or if you're doing prefolds as a newborn you may never need the smalls and can just skip to the large hemp  (or medium MF).

  • Ah brilliant, we just have smalls. They still stick out a little on the lowest rise so I guess we are okay for now. We only have the stay dry though, I should probably get some cotton hemp to try too :)

  • I only have large hemp and can use it on the smallest rise. I would just get large if it were me.
