Crib company went bankrupt :(

I just got a call from buy buy baby and they told me that Munire just went bankrupt. They are not doing any production. Just a heads up for those waiting for their crib/furniture from this company. I wasn't supposed to get my order until the end of October.

They said that they could probably get my crib from another store if they have one in stock, but not the toddler rails or extension to make it into a full size bed. I wanted a convertibles crib so now I am back to looking and will probably not have a crib by my due date.

If I find one in stock at a store then yes I will go home with one. The crib I wanted was going to take 12 weeks to get.

That's so frustrating!!! Don't panic, pick a crib and you'll be good. Deep breathes!

btw - if you aren't freaking out ignore my comment, but for me I would be freaking out because - hello anxiety- lol

@Starfruit14, I'm in the same boat as you. I went to place the order for my Munire crib and I can't find a retailer who will fill it. I was told due to Munire's problems ,what was their pending bankruptcy, stores don't have any Munire in stock. I was also told Munire might not be able to fill any back orders they have. I had my heart so set on my crib set that I sobbed hysterically for hours. I know it's only a crib, but I was devastated. I've feel like i've had to completely re-think what I wanted for baby's nursery?

What set did you like? I may have seen something in my mad "OMG, we need to find another crib" dash.

I liked the Rhapsody set w/ the curved headboard in the espresso.

We've switched to pottery barn kendall or catalina in the sun valley espresso.

Annoying but probably for the best. Since they are in bankruptcy and not doing production it sounds like they aren't filing bankruptcy for restructuring purposes.... which means they are going out of business and who knows what the status of any warranty on the product.

I had purchased the Jefferson crib in espresso and loved it. I think i'm going to drive myself crazy trying to find something similar to it. Ugh - the hunt begins again!

Try amazon, I got my crib in three days. It's not munire, but it is a good brand.

Ikea had a crib as one of the top 5 that was recommended by Consumer Reports.

Baby Cache is Munire, but sold under the Baby Cache name exclusively at BRU. OP, I'm confused. We just got a Munire crib and dresser (Jefferson) from BBB and our conversion kit, toddler rails and matching night stands were on back order but we got the call yesterday that they're in and we can pick them up. Is the entire company bankrupt? Or is this some sort of regional thing? I also have a friend who looked at Munire furniture in a higher end baby store in the last week and was able to order, no mention of bankruptcy or not being able to fill orders. ETA: Just Googled and found the article. Wonder how my back orders were filled?! Sorry OP, I'm sure you will find something you like just as much.

We got a lovely crib on Amazon.com with free shipping in about 10 days. Solid wood and great reviews. I don't remember the brand immediately but you might want to check on there. Sorry your first plan fell through, I would've freaked out.

I got the same call last night. They freaked me out but ended up that our crib and dresser got delivered Thursday and it was only our nightstand that wouldn't be fulfilled. I am thankful!

Thanks nauticallife for your link -- I like the Vienna crib that you posted. It is similar to the Jefferson one I was supposed to get. I will have to check it out.

bvsbabymomma - the way I understand it is that they just went bankrupted but some stores have items in stock. They didn't have mine in stock when I purchased it in August. I think they went bankrupt everywhere.

AlleyMM - I'm glad you got most of your stuff. You could always check out IKEA for a nightstand. I was going to get the Jefferson crib and then a dresser from IKEA that matched.

I am going to have to do some research on Amazon and BRU tonight. Thanks for all of the helpful posts guys!!!

AMAZON! It took my crib 5 days to get here from the moment I ordered it. I have a 4 in 1 convertible crib. I bought this one in black. Love it.

Thank you for posting this. I received my Jefferson crib 2 weeks ago but the headboard was damaged. They said they were ordering replacement. I just called buy buy baby with my concerns and they confirmed they filed for chapter 11 and are no longer in production so they will not be able to replace my damaged headboard. I already have t he dresser. They said they will take everything back and try to work out a price for replacement furniture. So disappointed, I really loved the Jefferson plus it is such a hassle to return everything. The store is an hour away and we will need to borrow a pickup truck and probably go back and forth twice.

Oh wow! I had no idea they were in trouble. We bought our Munire crib seven years ago with our first and will now use it with our 3rd. That's too bad - they make great furniture!

For what it's worth, we converted DS' crib to the toddler bed shortly after he turned 2 and he's such a giant we are just going to get a twin size and turn his bed into the crib for LO. We were set on a convertible crib and so far have only used it as a crib. My kid is huge.

DS has the Dakota. The Oakland is close to what you were looking at too. Suite Bebe is Munire but I believe they are made in Indonesia. From what I read, they aren't impacted by the bankruptcy and US plant shutdown.
