Random vacation question

Has anyone taken a cruise with an ASD child?

I'm not big on cruises - never been on one but the concept kinda freaks me out - but I was reading up about these Disney cruises and I thought they might be a good idea financially but DH was like "no way!".  He loves cruises so I was surprised by his reaction and he says "not with Chrisotpher.  It scares me that he might run off and fall."

Having never been on a cruise - is that really a legitimate concern?  Going overboard?

Depends on your kid, having been on a couple cruises there is no way I would take DD on one at this stage (4 moderately verbal, still weak on receptive language) .
We will revisit in 3-5 years.
There are certainly ways a kid could climb and fall over board on the ships I've been on.
    Just not worth the stress.
    We are doing WDW instead.

Before my son was diagnosed we went on a RC cruise with friends who have nuerotypical kids.  He was 3.5 years old at the time.  His expressive and receptive language was delayed.  My son did great and the kids activities were great as well.   We will definitely do one again.
