Would you travel somewhere with a travel warning with your kids?

My sister is having a destination wedding this spring in Puerta Vallarta, Mexico at an all inclusive resort. It currently has a travel warning for kidnapping and criminals posing as police and creating road blocks to rob or kidnap people for ransom. We were all going to go including my 2 daughters, but I am now having second thoughts because of the travel warning. Am I just being paranoid? If we do go, my anxiety will be through the roof and I don't know that I will be able to go enjoy myself anyway.

  • I would to a resort but I would want transportation via the hotel and I wouldn't leave the resort.

I wouldn't do another place with travel warnings though.

  • I wouldn't go. I tend to be super paranoid and over reactive ... But I know that if I went and something happened I would never forgive myself (if I lived through it)

  • Resorts are safe. So insanely safe.

Reading the whole thing above, it sounds like puerta Vallarta is ok?
I was just reading that too. I didn't read all the way down initially. From reading that, it does sound like it's ok....I need to figure out where our resort is exactly and transportation to and from the resort. We were thinking of doing some excursions outside of the resort, but I don't think we will now.

  • I'd go. I've done a lot of traveling to fairly unstable places and as long as your smart about it, you're fine.

With it being an all-inclusive, they'll def have transportation to/from the airport.
