Ok guys - headed back to work next week and feel like I'm going to have to wake up at the crack of dawn in order to get myself and LO ready and out the door for work/daycare. Curious what time everyone gets up and what your morning routine is.
What time do you have to wake up to get everyone out of the house for work/daycare/etc.? 150 votes
I just stay awake all night

I try to get as much ready the night before as possible. In the morning, I usually wake up at 6 and either feed LO (if he is awake and ready to eat - sometimes he eats at 5 so I am up earlier and sometimes he sleeps until 7 so that all really depends) or pump. My schedule looks something like this, but changes depending on if my husband is already home to help with LO in the morning.
6am - get DS up, change him, feed him on one side
6:30am - pump the other side and freeze the milk from this pumping session. wash pump parts and bottles and leave them to dry. DS will usually hang out on his play mat while I do this.
7am - shower, get dressed, do hair and makeup for work. entertain DS at the same time - sing to him, make funny faces, etc to try to distract him for long enough so that I can get myself as presentable as possible
7:45am - pack everything I will need that day for pumping (I would do this the night before if I could but since I need to pump in the morning before I leave I usually can't) and my lunch which I make the night before. Let the dog out and feed him breakfast.
8am - hope my husband is already home from work so that I can hand off DS to him and leave for work.
Luckily I live less than a 10 minute drive from work right now so I do not have to leave too early. I am nervous for when we move further away in the spring how much earlier I am going to have to get up in orider to make it work on time!
630-700 Pump
700-710 Pack E's diaper bag (including milk) and my pump bag
710-730 Get dressed, put on make up and leave
I get to the office between 8-815 and eat my breakfast then. Shower happens the night before because I would rather sleep in the morning.
H's routine:
6-7 Snores
7-730 Either keeps on snoring or checks his facebook, the web, etc. Twice a week he has work calls.
730-8 Takes the longest dump ever and gets himself ready for work
8-830 Bottle feed E and gets her dressed
830 out the door to DC
MF: up at 6, feed LO, DH up about 6:15, I make his coffee and get baby ready. They leave by 6:45, he drops her off at my aunts on his way to work.
TWR: up about 6:15, make coffee for DH and lunch if necessary(typically I do this at night.) LO up to nurse about 6:30. 7:00 I get ready while she sits in her RNP looking cute. I usually am out the door about 7:45, bring her to my moms, and get to work 8:05-8:10 depending on how hard it is to leave her that day. (I live and work in the same town as my mom.)
Schedule looks something like:
5:45am - Pump
6:00am - clean pump parts, prepare daycare bag, prepare work pump bag, and make LOs first bottle to take to day care
6:05am - Shower, blow dry, makeup, dressed, etc
6:25am - wake up LO and get him dressed
6:30am - Good byes to DH, get LO in car seat
6:35am - Leave for Daycare
Sometimes I'll switch up and shower before I pump, or shower the night before. But oddly, those mornings that I'm not in the shower seem to be the ones I'm the most frazzled.
