I am wondering if anyone else measured small towards the end of their pregnancy? I am 39 weeks, he is measuring 34. They are concerned the placenta may not be working as well or low fluid -- both of which can be determined by ultrasound and would mean they need to induce.
The thing is, they can't get me in for an ultrasound before my due date at our hospital meaning the options I have right now are to possibly book an appointment a town over or to call every day and wait for an open appointment but I am just not sure how immediate the need is as I was already done with my appointment when I found out there weren't any openings. My doctor is out of town till next week and I am seeing her nurse this week anyway.
Re: Measuring 34 weeks at week 39...Anyone else have this happen?
If I were you, I would try to get an ultra sound appointment and perhaps ask for a non-stress test. Know ultrasound measurements can also be inaccurate. But it will give you an idea of your fluid levels and other indications of how the baby is doing. How is your blood pressure and other vitals? I can't believe they can't get you in for an ultrasound in the next weeks. This should be a priority.
At 38 or 39 weeks, my MW got concerned that DS was small and my blood pressure was creeping up (so it wasn't just his size). My ultra sound showed that my fluid levels were low, and based on that and the fact that my placenta looked small, we scheduled an induction on my due date. (FWIW, DS ended up coming before the induction on his own). He was born at 6 lbs, 3 oz, which is on the smaller end of normal. However, my placenta was about 1/2 the size it should have been and showed signs of being stressed. So in my case, I do think DS was better off on the "outside" vs on the"inside" and that an induction was a good idea. I'm glad I had the ultra sound so that we had all the information.
Good luck!
