We switched exactly a week ago - T wasn't climbing out but was hurting himself trying to get out. I showed him a few beds online and he loved the Thomas bed (choo choo bed!) so that's what I got. Every night he has done well going to bed - I put him in bed at the normal time like I did in the crib, the only difference is he now will get out, grab his stuffed animals, walk around his room a little, etc., but then goes back into bed within a few minutes and goes to sleep. The first few mornings were a bit rough - he was waking up at 5 or 5:30 AM and would not go back to sleep (not in his bed, not in our bed), so he was super tired all day. The past 2 nights, though, he's slept in until almost his normal time and has seemed to be adjusting. He also has slept through the night every night. My biggest suggestion is to put some extra pillows/blankets/stuffed animals in there because chances are they won't sleep like an adult sleeps (position wise). One night he slept normal, the next he slept at the wrong end, one night he was sideways with his legs half off lol. Otherwise, just keep with your normal routine and you should be fine!
Also - I was nervous because the bed is really cute with a Thomas face and he likes to play with it, but now at night I say do you want to go night-night in your choo-choo? And he says yes, tells H good night and doesn't whine - he loves going up to his choo-choo.

DS has been in a toddler bed for about 2-3 months and doing great. The only part of his routine that we changed is that he climbs into bed instead of us putting him in bed. He likes to sit on the side of the bed to say prayers and then scrambles into bed.
I found toddler sheets from buybuybaby that have a fitted bottom to the top "flat" sheet so that sheet stays in place even though he tosses and turns in his sleep. I haven't introduced a pillow yet because he is a belly sleeper like me.
I think he transitioned a lot better than I though he would.

so we haven't switched yet and hope to not have to for a while. Our LO has not tried to. We use a sleep sack that helps to keep them in the crib longer bc they can't crawl out as easy. Its called a zipadee zip and our LO sleeps great in it. Has anyone had any experience with using it for this reason?
We decided to skip the toddler bed just because we thought we'd like to be able to lay down with him at bed time to read stories and for him to fall asleep. When we first made the transition we started with his crib mattress on the floor then shortly after switched to full sized mattress on the floor. Now he's using my old full sized bed frame which is fairly low to the ground but still he's never fallen out of while sleeping (we don't have bed rails.) The transition was really easy for us. We like it because now if he wakes up in the night rather than us having to go into his room he comes into ours. We'll either bring him into bed if he wakes up or if it's early in the night we take him back to his room and lay down with him again.
