Any tips for dealing with a forceful letdown? Baby has been gassy and has reflux at night, so I'm assuming the forceful letdown is the issue. She does not seem to have symptoms of an allergy/intolerance, but she often coughs and pulls off the breast when I get a letdown, and the milk will flow out of both breasts. My baby is only 3 weeks old, so I am hesitant to treat it as an oversupply issue while my supply is still regulating. I do not have a pump right now, but will be getting one soon. I burp her often, and I know about laid-back nursing...is there anything else I can try?
Re: Forceful letdown
You can take a burp cloth and spray into that after let-down until the flow slows down, then put baby back on. I also tried to nurse frequently so that DD wouldn't be too hungry and eat too fast, and also so I wouldn't be too engorged. It took a few weeks to regulate but things have been great since then. Good luck!
