Cloth Diapering

Help me dx a rash

L has had a rash for a while now. I thought it was just wetness sensitivity bc basically is just flat and pink in the same shape as his diaper. It hasn't gotten better with CJs, Waxelene, or disposables. Could it be yeast? I don't really see raised dots. I took a pic if anyone can walk me thru posting it from my phone.

Re: Help me dx a rash

  • Detergent sensitivity?  I think any wetness can exasperate this issue.

What kind of cream are you using?  My daughter has issue with the CJ's spritz.  I have to use the tub of cream on her.

Shoot, it is the spritz. And I kept using it even with the disposables. Hmm.

I can't be 100%, but I think the spritz was making my daughter's diaper area all red.  I read a couple review about it causing issues with some kids.

But I've never had any problems with the lavender and tea tree oil cream.

Are you using regular CJs spritz, or the CJs Plus spritz? I just order the Plus spritz, but have only used the tub cream up to this point, in a variety of scents with no issues.

I vote detergent sensitivity or mild ammonia burn?

Regular spritz in Blueberry Crumble, Honey and Oats, and Coconut Lime.  I had issues with them all for her.

My son doesn't have any issue with them.

  • Something in the CJ's spritz irritated DS's skin too. I think we have one that has TTO and lavender in it? Maybe it's too concentrated?
  • Ours are regular spritzes, too: Monkey Farts and Pink Sugar. I'll stop using them and see if it helps.

I don't think it's ammonia since he's rarely in a diaper more than 2 hours. We use Nellie's detergent. I hope that's not it.

  • In disposables now in case the thrush gives him a yeast rash.

  • How long has he been in sposies without using cloth in between?

  • We started disposables yesterday or the day before. I can't remember now. I stopped using the CJ's spray today and it seems a little better, so I think that was the main culprit.

PS I don't normally hate disposables, but we have had SO many leaks this time! It's nuts!

  • I would give it another day or two in sposies. I think it could take a couple days for a detergent or wetness sens rash to clear .
