We like the name Oliver and then my mom goes and says I like it but don't call him Ollie. Actually my mother said it sounds wimpy. What do you guys think? Just curious as we are trying to narrow down names. The only other boy names we agree on are Max and Asher. What are your thoughts?
Thank you!
Re: Does the nickname Ollie for the name Oliver sound ok or is it too weak?

I think Ollie is cute
I love Oliver, too.
But I digress... while I do not like Ollie as a NN (love Oliver) I don't see it as a weak name.

Ollie is fine as a nn for Oliver. My friend has an Oliver and he's called Ollie sometimes.
How macho does your baby need to be to your Mom? =]

OP, Oliver is a perfectly classy name. The nn Ollie is nms, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. Don't let your mom poo poo all over it.
Precious baby boy "HC" born May 2013.
I've got a Jaydn- taters
Tristan-Trinny
Wesley-Wes or wesley bear
And baby will be isla- Wes calls her lala so that might stick.
I don't think anyone picks a name because it has a strong nn. Call your kid what you want.
Fwiw: I wanted Wes to be an Oliver/ Ollie. It's a fantastic name, your mom will deal.
