Just adding my 2 cents for those considering ... I'm not ready to join a fb group, but I highly recommend it to all the FTMs. I am still very much involved with my July 13 group and honestly don't know how I'd have survived without them. Also as this board grows it will become harder to keep up with, but the fb group was much easier to manage IMHO. Alternatively we may want to create our own secret group of just June 15 mommas.

Woah....waaayyyyy too early to be talking about FB groups for me! I want to make it through 1st tri and figure out who I click with on the boards. Sorry ladies, love you in a creepy internet stranger way, but keeping my personal life to myself for now.

I'm due May 30, 2015 but lurk here since I am closer to most of you in terms of pregnancy stages than with my May group.

I am in Jessica's original FB group (due in March '13) and I am so thankful that I joined (we all joined way early on in our pregnancies)! The format on FB is easier than the bump and we havent had issues/are normal people. I've actually met a bunch of the girls in real life and have made some good friends.

Also it is helpful when pregnant but SO helpful when you have a newborn. Again, I find going to the bump annoying and like the ease of facebook.

Just my 2 cents. Hope to see some of you there

Maybe it's me but I also found that people are WAY nicer in FB groups than on the bump! I guess since you can't hide behind an anonymous name?

Not only that, we're only at the beginning of the month. If we try to set up something now before most of our members show up, there could be those who feel left out. It may be something to consider once a majority of us hit 2nd tri and we've established relationships here first.

And just to add - being on Facebook didn't stop the crazy. People donated money to someone they thought they knew and it turned out the woman was crazy in many aspects and that she used the money for things other than her family (groceries, diapers, etcetera). And that is not the only instance that has occurred in the last 3 years.

I had a similar situation on FB with my bmb. I definitely vote for waiting until 2nd tri, once relationships have developed.

Lots of crazy happened in my July 2012 group both on the bump and fb. I'm only a part of the fb group now. No matter what eventually there will be drama in any group bump or fb. I'm liking this group here for now though

Yeah, wayyyyy too early.
I like being able to connect avatars, siggies, pics (etc) with people on the forum. That's how I get to know people. You slap me with a bunch of random real names and I won't connect anyone. Plus, I don't need everyone knowing my personal business quite yet. I'd definitely wait on that.

I don't doubt it's fun, but we literally just started posting here this week. I love FB, and I love FB groups.. I'm part of many. Personally speaking, I don't just join random ones. I also haven't had a successful pregnancy. And I feel it would be shitty to have to leave a group if something happens. FB is just more personal to/for me. I'm totally not opposed to one- just not yet.

No, I definitely understand. I was just putting it out there for people who may be interested. Our original group (all 300 of us) mainly joined in the first tri. Again, I totally get not wanting to right now but if someone prefers the FB platform and is comfortable joining now, they are more than welcome! We feel said with our lack of members

So if the people decide to move over to FB in 3rd tri and give people the details about the group that is against the bump rules? Pretty much every group I've been on here/the nest has moved to facebook eventually!

I think the difference is we didn't decide. It's an "outside" group that is trying to recruit people.

And I've lurked on a lot of BMBs in my ridiculously long TTC journey and I always thought the board makes the decision as a group to start the FB group. Not a few brave souls start one immediately on their own and the rest of us join later. But just my 2 cents

I'm not interested in joining a Facebook group at the moment but I'm confused as to what the fear is? If your profile is private than the people in your group can't see anything. So how can they scam your personal info?

It was made by a group of mamas who are in their second pregnancy. We have one and a half year olds and have stayed on Fb with our original group. We are looking to chat with more mamas since many of the ladies in our original group are not pregnant. The conspiracy theories are a bit silly. Our iriginal group started when we were newly pregnant (many joined between 4 & 8 weeks pregnant)! Some of us have even met in real life an hung our with our children!

It's not paranoia if it's based in fact. I'm no detective, but with your first and last name, combined with the fact that many have shared where they live, I can find your address, where you work, your husband's name, where he works. I could contact your boss, your hospital, have things sent to your house....

Not to mention that since I've been on TK/TN/TB I've seen:
People fake pregnancies
People fake miscarriages
People faking tragedies and collecting money from their facebook group
People taking screen shots of facebook conversations and sending them to whoever you're venting about (having problems with your MIL? Do you really want some person you don't know forwarding that to her?)
People stalking other posters
People who live with sex offenders who check out you and your kids on your facebook group
People calling CPS on posters
People contacting the bosses of posters

We are all minutes pregnant. You know nothing about the women on this board yet. Many are sane, but there are definitely some who are not. Do you really want to give people you haven't vetted access to your personal information?

I would be happy to join in tri 2! I think we should create our own group. And we need a rule - there is to be no money exchanged!
