Induction question

I'm being induced at 40 weeks 5 days due to medical reasons.

As of now, my cervix is soft and dilated to 1.5cm. However, the baby and my cervix are still very far back.

Has anyone been induced with this little of progression and still delivered vaginally?

Re: Induction question

  • With DD1 I was completely closed up when I went in for my induction and delivered vaginally 28 hours later. With DD2 I was barely a 1 and 50% effaced and delivered vaginally just under 12 hours later. It is very possible.

  • Ok great, thanks for the responses! I'm trying for a vbac so I'm really hoping it all works out!
  • I was dilated 2 cm and was started on pitocin. I delivered my baby vaginally 16 hours later.

  • I had a successful vaginal birth after going in at 60% effaced and under 2 cm dilated.  We used cytotec and had no need for pitocin.  Good luck!

  • I was completely closed and was induced. It took two tries and 23 hours of labor, but I still had my LO vaginallt.
  • I wasn't dilated or effaced at all and the head was really high when I was induced. They started cervidel at around 4:30pm on a Tuesday, and I delivered vaginally at 9:07pm on Wednesday. It was a long 28 hours, I had contractions every 3 minutes all night long, and they started the pitocin at 9am. My cervix was fully dilated and effaced by around 10ish Wednesday morning, so mostly we were just waiting for her head to come down all day.
  • I'm getting induced next Wednesday. They're doing the cervidil Wednesday night and the pitocin at 8am on Thursday. Getting nervous because he's still really high. I don't want him to get bruised by coming down really fast. And just nervous in general!
