Mattress cover, what else do we need to buy?

Ftm here. I felt like I was on top of purchases and my registry but the post below about a mattress cover through me for a loop. Are there other random items it's nice to have around for labor/birth? I feel like I'm back at square one again! Thx!

These two are just so funny...

Also, due date has come, gone and I am just so anxious to meet baby!  Please be healthy and strong baby, mama can't wait to meet you :)

  • An exercise ball for labor. I labored at home for 6.5hrs and bouncing/rolling the ball helped with back labor.

  • I packed a small bag in my car around the time I packed my hospital bag-- it had an extra change of clothes, a couple towels, and pads in the event that my water broke and I'd need to be in my car. I left it there and though I never ended up needing it, it put my mind at ease.

Have a ton of super thick huge Always pads for the PP bleeding, comfy underwear (I live in my VS lacies, but they are NOT comfy right after birth nor are they conducive to the huge pads you'll be wearing), and Colace (stool softener).

  • Not pregnancy related, but baby related:  Safety pins to hold their little socks together in the laundry.  Otherwise, you are guaranteed to lose those tiny things.  I'll think of more, I'm sure.

This! I used a small mesh bag and that worked well too.

  • Yes mesh bag for socks! That took me 2 years to figure out. Embarrassing.
