What happens at your 20 wk OB apt?

i just had my 20 week ultrasound and we are excited to announce.... IT'S A BOY!
I was just curious as to what my OB is going to go over with my DH and I at this appointment?

Re: What happens at your 20 wk OB apt?

  • Congrats on team blue!  I had an appointment at 18w (where they did an u/s showing gender) so I'm not sure if that is the same as one at 20w, but our actual time with the midwife was nothing out of the ordinary - basically just time to ask questions and go over concerns!  The next "event" appointment is our 1-hour glucose test which we have scheduled for 26w

  • From what I gather from the papaerwork my OBs office gave me at my first appointment, theres the a/s first thing. Then my OB will come in and talk to us about what she and the tech saw during the ultrasound, if anything looked abnormal. She will go over my blood work from 4 weeks ago, which was my 2nd tri maternity screening, and then answer any questions I may have. Then we will most likely schedule the 1 hour GD test for 4 to 6 weeks from then. And just proceed as normal. I know at my last appointment, the office asked where I would be delivering so they could get my charts and notes over to them to start the preregistry process. So, all in all, it sounds pretty routine to me.

  • My OB just discussed the results of my tests, my measurements and what would happen at future appointments.

  • I had mine today.  I've got a/s tomorrow (office doesn't have ultrasound and they bring in a specialist/special equipment to the island), so today it was the usual measurements and listening to the heartbeat.

  • Good I am glad to hear that it is routine stuff this week:) tech said they might adjust my due date because baby is big for his estimated age. :) I am NOT looking forward to that glucose test because I am not a fan of sugar in the first place! Hope you ladies are all doing well in your pregnancies!
