Baby Logan birth story - bethybeach

Hi all,

Trying to get into a routine so I haven't been on much.  Congrats to all with the outside babies.  Also thanks to my labor buddies @anewadventure and @judyblume14 They finally both have outside babies as well, anewadventure many T&Ps for you to get rid of the blood clots.  But it was really great to have these ladies the past few weeks with texts and support.

Our birth story:

Monday all day I just didn't feel right, very achy and tired but couldn't explain much more than that.  We watched the orioles clinch our division and went to bed.  I woke up at 12:15 with a wet bed.  My due date is the 18th and the wet wasn't a lot but nonetheless it as something.  Called the dr told me to come into triage.  Went in and the first test didn't come up positive for amniotic fluid but I was starting to feel contractions as soon as they hooked me up to the monitors.  After a while they asked me to start walking.  DH and I circled the small floor for 1 hour at 3 AM.  They said walk and they would check me again.  They did showing more fluid, this time it was positive.  Thank goodness.  Contractions were about 5 minutes apart.

They checked me in and I had noticed my nurse was in every 5 minutes, which I thought was weird but she said baby looks great.  But no sleep for me.  The next shift nurse came on and she told me the monitors weren't working so she had no way to check me outside of the room so she had to keep coming in, that also meant my own personal nurse.  But it also meant 3 IT guys would end up in my room, awkward.

Contractions got stronger and I asked for the EPI around 9:30 am.  The miserable internal said I was only 3-4 and baby was way up.  But moving forward.  Got the EPI and got a little rest.  After a few hours they checked me again not much progression dr said I still needed my water broken because there was still a lot of fluid and they thought it would help me progress more.  It helped a little but not much I went to 5.  Around 1 they wanted to do Pitocin, so that started.  After 40 minutes the nurse quickly asked me to move and the scariest moment of my life happened.  Nurse said his HR dropped to 75 and wanted me on all fours quickly.  I did it and HR got better, I took me a while to stop shaking and crying after that.  Pitocin was stopped after that but started to progress.  at about 4 I started to feel pressure to push I was at 8.  Then around 5:30 I was ready.  His hr dropped after the first push so they got NICU in and the vacuum ready but I was determined to push.  After that his HR was fine and he was born at 6:19 the pushing felt quick and DH did so good supporting me.

Baby Logan was 8 lbs 6 oz 20 inches of beautiful baby boy on 9/17.  He has a bit of acne and they are testing his billibrum levels today but dr isn't overly concerned.  Happy to be home and enjoying kissing that beautiful face.
