anyone else experience this?

Sorry if this is tmi....Ok so I am 24 weeks along and I seem to be experiencing braxton hicks. Well last night my pelvic floor/bone (crotch area) started hurting (like someone was ripping me open) and it is worse today to the point its starting to hurt to walk. I am waiting for the nurse to call back as we speak... Have any of you experienced this? And if so what did you do to ease it? This is baby #3 but I don't recall experiencing this with them.

Re: anyone else experience this?

  • The stretching pains get worse with each pregnancy because you're losing elasticity in your skin... Atleast that's what the doc told me. I also had csections with my 2 others and I've also experienced pain from my incision. It's worse when you're exerting force like coughing sneezing etc. I called and they said it's normal and nothing to worry about but they still brought me in for a checkup just to be sure :)

  • I have experienced lower pelvic pain (like the bone needs to "pop" but won't) but it is due to all the pressure building.

  • I had a lot of pain there during the end of my last pregnancy, and I think it was just due to everything spreading and moving. When it got really bad, I would lay down and have my husband push my hips together as hard as he could. It didn't completely take away the pain, but it gave me some relief. Good luck!
  • My nurse said it was that plus my baby is probably sitting low unlike my last two pregnancies which means its just going to get worse ... maybe. Im laying on my side now to try to get her to shift some.
  • I was JUST talking to my friend who is 25 weeks who experienced this, her doc told her it's her pubic bones separating... Sounds like no fun, sorry you're experiencing it!
  • I'm 25 weeks and have been having Braxton Hicks for a while now.  The front part of my pelvis feels like I got kneed in the crotch almost anytime I stand up. It was like this with #1 as well, so I'm not worried about it.  I would rather it happen gradually over the next couple months, then to be trying to expand the week I deliver.

Yea the being kneed part really explains the feeling. But i agree that at least its starting gradually instead of all at once.
  • Yes i went to the hospital for it at 20 weeks it was the worst pain ever they told me it was the baby pushing down and the way the baby was growing
  • I've had similar and found it was possibly pelvic girdle pain. Had to change how I do some things- Like sitting down to put on pants, etc. Also bought a maternity belt for extra support. It's literally a pain in the vag.

Did the support belt help? My little guy wiggles himself right up against a nerve and causes a lot of pain and combined with RLP, my hips are starting to kill. I called my OB the other day and the nurse called back suggesting I try a support belt.
  • Do you think it could be pubic symphysis? I had a similar pain when I was pregnant with my daughter. I used the poses from this site https://birthbliss.wordpress.com/2013/04/08/yoga-poses-and-exercises-to-help-ease-pain-from-pubic-symphysis-dysfunction/ and they seemed to help... Especially the ones sitting in the chair. My doctor didn't seem concerned at all when I told her about the pain so I did lots of internet searching and in the end a combination of laying low, wearing a support belt and gentle exercises made it go away.
  • The support belt does help- it's a bit awkward, but it takes a lot of pressure off.  The sitting to put on pants REALLY helps!

I will look into those poses to try. I had a drs appointment today and asked about all this pain going on. She said in many cases like this being baby #3 the body sometimes will start prepping early since it knows what to do. Between this little girl sitting low and putting pressure along with the "stretching" and braxton hicks, it hasn't Been comfortable At all.... I was told to use a heating pad for my crotch and tylonal and sleep on left side....

Where Did you get a support belt at? I may try it since I am constantly on my feet at work and plan to work till baby Skylar decides to arrive in January.
  • Same symptoms here! Braxton Hicks along with the kneed crotch sensation. Seems to be common, but I know I doesn't feel that way.

I think any support belt will help, but one with "groin bands" is supposed to be best for pubic problems:

    It's super sexy too. /:)
