38 weeks today and crampy

Hello

Today I am officially 38weeks. Last week I went to the doctor and was not dilated at all and my cervix was still hard. Starting last night I started feeling very crampy and uncomfortable. Still have the crampy feeling today and also a little nauseated. I am assuming this is just my body getting ready for labor? What are your experiences? I see the doctor on Friday for my pre-op. I am scheduled for a c-section on October 8th, but with the way I have been feeling last night and so far today I don't think I will make it until then. Thoughts?

Re: 38 weeks today and crampy

  • I'm 37w and some change. I also started feeling very crampy yesterday, but it's nothing timeable, so I assume it's nothing. I also could be completely wrong and I could have this baby at my desk this morning. Just wanted you to know you are in good company, because a lot of us have been crampy bitches for a few weeks.

  • Crampy and nauseated for me was the day before labor and the morning it started! Dr told me the "crampy" contractions are doing the work to dilate you! Sounds like something is going on there!

  • That's how I felt yesterday am exactly! Cramping and back pain have been sporadic for about a week. Last week my ob said as long as it's not regular timing it's normal and it's your body preparing itself... And to take it easy as we want baby to stay put for a few more weeks. Yesterday I felt nauseous too. It was the first day where I had that "get this baby out !" feeling! I'll be induced a week early at 39 wks if baby isn't here by then but after hearing my crampy feelings and saying my cervix was softening doc said he doesn't think I'll make it to induction date. Hope you feel better. Feeling preggo and like your on your period sucks!

I've been having cramps and light contractions for a few weeks now. I'm 39 weeks and no baby yet. It could mean baby is coming soon, or LO could have a few more weeks.
OP, this. I'm only going on 37 weeks on Friday and I've also been having light contractions, cramps and lower back pain for a good week now. It could mean everything or nothing. GL though!

  • I have been having cramps, lower back pain, contractions that come and go and some nausea for weeks now still no baby :/ But Im hoping it means a shorter labor. Going to the dr today to see if more progress has been made. Last appointment my cervix was soft, 1 cm and she could feel the head. As long as all the pain is progress it makes me happy.

  • I may have had a little argument with my doctor about this. He first tried to tell me that the cramping was RLP and I was like, "NO." I know the difference. Even though he wouldn't concede that the cramps are "doing anything," I at least got him to understand that we were speaking about two completely different things.

  • For DS the cramps came and went in waves, it was very obvious. I had some this AM that I was timing and they were coming every 10 minutes and lasting about 30 seconds but they went away after an hour. Keep an eye out for the "waves" of cramps. You will def know you are in labor when they start to really hurt!

  • I've been crampy too. My midwife told me yesterday that the cramps and lower/pelvic area type contractions are working to openthe cervix. Like PP have said, she told me I could still have a few weeks or could go tomorrow.

Ps.. sorry about the lurker status here
