Help! I need ideas! Friday we are driving to see my in laws for the weekend. What is a fun way to tell them the sex? I was going to just keep it simple and make a cake.. But we are driving 5 hours so opted out of that.
Scavenger hunt. Or anatomy u/s photo in frames so they can guess, then they open the back of the frame to reveal the sex. Balloons filled with the color coordinating confetti, so when you pop it, it reveals.
Do they know you are going to tell them the sex or is it a total surprise?
There are so many cute ways of doing it but I sort of prefer the understated option of just straight up telling them excitedly. They will be just as excited either way and the sex reveals always seem a little silly to me. The Ultrasound photo is always a nice keepsake though. I have seen some that are profile views but with a pink bow or blue hat on. The confetti is nice if you are at your house but it will make a huge mess in someone elses home.
Cupcakes would work though. Just put them in a cooler without ice to keep them from getting too hot. Most cupcakes at the store sit out at room temperature for days.
Oh I also like pp suggestion of a baby item they will need to have at their house that is gender related. Like a pack of pink blankets and bibs. Or a little blue onesie that says I love my grandma!
We had a piñata. Everyone thought it was full of confetti or pink or blue candies. The best was nobody asked what was inside for boy or girl. When they knocked it open it was full of mounds candy. haha were having a girl. we would have put almond joys for a boy. everyone was laughing.
I like the onsie idea. We did a neutral onsie for my parents when we found out we were pregnant. For our gender reveal, it'll be part of my Halloween costume. I'm going to be a pregnant skeleton, and the baby skeleton will either have a hair bow or a baseball cap. We'll take a pic and text it to our families as well as post on Facebook. It'll be our "we're pregnant!/we're having a..." announcement for Facebook.
Re: Ideas to reveal sex to inlaws
Just to name a few off the top of my head.
Gender-related bibs to keep at Grandma's house. (I know, it's sex not gender but "sex-related" bibs sounded wrong).
Pink/blue candy or flowers.
