Breast Implants

Anyone have experience with pregnancy and breast implants? While I am certainly concerned about being able to feed my baby, I'm also concerned about post-baby appearance (please no judgment, just being honest). Any experiences/advice welcome, but please be nice :)

Re: Breast Implants

  • I have implants. I have a LO who is now 9 months old. I was really hoping to successfully BF with her, but I had some major challenges. I did BF for 3 months, but over the course of that time I battled initial engorgement, low supply, mastitis, bleeding nipples, etc. I finally had to give up because it was KILLING me. Now, all that being said, I don't know that my implants directly contributed to any of those problems. I may have had them regardless - I know other moms with implants who BF'd with no problems. I saw a few LCs and they reported that my daughter had a high palate, tight frenulum, poor transfer, yada yada yada. So I'm kinda inclined to think it wasn't all due to my implants. I'm hoping to try again with this baby and have a better outcome on the BF front.

As far as looks, my tits are still as fabulous as they were before I got pregnant. They aren't shaped funny or anything... and they don't sag! Not sure if I would be able to say that if I didn't have them ;-)

  • I don't have any experience but I have breast implants as well. Before implants I was a 30a so basically the little bumps u have when you first get boobs :(. So my boobs are ALL implant. I'm not worried about how it'll affect breast feeding as I know moms that BF with implants. I'm more concerned that since I naturally have nothing I won't be able to produce milk or may have underdeveloped breasts. I do wonder how they will look post pregnancy tho as I know many women get them to "fix" for lack of better word their post pregnancy breasts.
  • @shadow512 I'm so sorry you had issues with your first. Best of luck this time around. Thank you for sharing and glad to hear they still look fabulous :\">
  • @andreadi80‌ I just PMed you. I didn't want to post my response here. :)
  • My friend had implants she breast fed no problem and honestly her boobs looked amazing after. They fell just enough to no longer have an implant look but not too much to sag
  • My sil and sister both breastfed two babies successfully with implants until they were ready to wean. My sil wants to get them fixed when she is done having kids. My sister is done, but she said she actually likes them better post babies then pre babies. She they look a little more natural.
  • I breast fed my daughter for 11months, with no issues! I was concerned as well...from what I had researched, going under the muscle with the implants causes less damage to the glands that produce the milk. Which is what I did. 5 years later and they still look great...softer and not 'so fake' !!!!
  • My SIL has implants and has ebf her son for nearly a year now.
  • I breast fed my daughter for 5 months with them i did notice my flow never stabalized like other moms so when the let down came it came out full force! It was messy (sorry tmi) i am not sure if that was just me or the implants because i did not breastfeed my oldest nor did i have impalnts then. My after boobs look good softer and less "fake looking" . I plan on breastfeeding this next baby. My only annoyance which this kinda goes with everyone who has large boobs regardless of fake or not was HOW big they got during the pregnancy and after my milk came in it was soooo painful on my back
  • I'm glad you posted this. I've been wondering as well. After reading through the responses, I feel more confident that I will be able to breastfeed when the time comes! Thanks ladies!
