Bigger bottles for pumping

I use the medela bottles to pump into and they hold around 5 oz. I'm currently just pumping one side first thing in the morning while DS nurses on the other (he's sleeping through the night right now). I was wondering if there are bottles that hold more than 5 oz for pumping. I feel like I always have to stop the pump because my bottle is full and I feel like I'm missing out on some milk!

    Yes, medela makes 8 oz collection bottles.

    When your boobs are really full in the morning because your baby STTN, you can pump a but for your freezer stash or to relieve engorgement. But if you pump 5+ oz every morning your body thinks you need tons of milk and you'll keep making it! As my daughter started sleeping better at night, my boobs adjusted. I'm not wasting milk, my body just adjusts and makes what my baby needs. Oversupply can be a HUGE pain in the ass to deal with, don't do that to yourself!

    I don't agree. 5 oz is actually a pretty average yield for a first thing in the morning pump. I most definitely did not have oversupply, almost low supply but I could often get 5 or 6 oz first thing in the morning from one side.

    I'm getting 5 oz in just 6 minutes usually. Milk is still coming but I have to stop because the bottle is full. I am building a stash but also engorged from STTN. I'm not trying to increase my supply just trying to drain my boob completely. I will look for the 8 oz bottles. Thanks.

    Dr B should work with Medela pump. But when I got close to filling a 4-5 oz bottle, I would just put on a new one. I found that the bigger ones got too heavy and pulled the flange down and I've have to hold it in place, which is fine, but I wanted to be hands free.

    If you want to not be engorged in the morning (it can be so painful!) pumping less will make your boobs stop producing so much for the morning. But if you want to keep being super full in the morning so you can get a good freezer supply obviously you can pump it all out

    Even when I'd pump more than 5 oz on one boob, i prefer to just pump into 5 oz bags/bottles since that's about how much DD drinks at a time
    I still think she's fine to encourage a little extra in the morning, for a freezer/backup stash. I wouldn't sit there and pump for 40 minutes, but a normal twenty minute pump with a few letdowns is fine. She's going to be full on the side her LO nurses anyway, right?

    When I was EPing I would attach an 8oz Dr. Brown bottle (plastic) for my morning pump. You can pump a little more than 8oz into them because there is extra space at the top for the blue tube and whatnot. But as pp mentioned, they can get kind of heavy when they get that full.
