Paranoid mamas

Sometimes (read:all-the-time) when my babies are napping I will use the zoom feature on my video monitor to make sure I can see their chest moving so I know they are still breathing. And before I go to bed I go in their room and put my hand on their chest to check again.

Anyone else have paranoid mama behaviors? Is there help for me?

Yes and especially when we are in the car. Shes usually screaming the entire ride no matter where we go so when shes actually quiet i have to look back at her and watch her chest for a few seconds.

*puts hand up* yep, I'm paranoid.

DD was sick last week, and we had a mammoth melt down on Wednesday night where she only slept 3 hours because of being overtired. Ever since she hasn't been as happy, not smiling as much and I haven't been able to get her to giggle as much - only a couple of little giggles instead of a big one if that makes sense. I've been worried that I have done something to her.

But this morning I got all the smiles. No giggles but she definitely seemed perkier.

Yep, anytime I wake up in the middle of the night, I put my hand on her tummy to make sure she's breathing.

This and I get so mad at myself about the toddler. Like I can't possibly handle having 5 min to myself so I have to peak in which usually wakes her.

I'm guilty of the monitor breathing check and the hand on the chest whenever I wake up too.

Constantly I do it for my toddler too. Luckily she goes right back to sleep- the baby nooot so much.

Still do it. And this is my second. My old monitor I could hear her breathing, which was pretty sweet too. DH is trying to break my habit by putting the monitor on his side of the bed. She is up every 2 hours, so that's most of the confirmation I need that she's alive.

We don't use a video monitor, but I do place a hand on him to check his breathing...though not as often as DH does!!

I don't have a video monitor but I don't really need one because DD is still in our room. I'm so scared to move her to another room!!!

Since DD has been sleeping in the cot, our cat wont go anywhere near it, and is actually afraid of it. She takes one sniff and runs off.

I am so paranoid. I always put my hand on his chest every time I wake up. I know I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight... He has his first cold.

Me, too! I secretly hate that they sleep through the night now. I wake with a start at random times and check on them. Sometimes I don't believe the monitor and I will go touch their backs to make sure.

I am a video monitor zoomer.
I don't go in cause it wakes him up. I remind myself I am being paranoid and just let him be.

This. We locked evil kitty in the bathroom at night after DD1 was born. Cat hates the babies and avoids them at all costs. Now the closest she gets is sitting atop the footboard of the crib, (to watch the blue jays in the yard).

I check the monitor and do the hand on the chest. It's bad because the floor in the nursery is a little creaky so I'm always afraid I'll wake baby. Also, I tend to underdress him for bed because I'm terrified of overheating him.

Watching my little boy breathing on the monitor right now during his nap

. I also can't fall asleep unless I can hear him breathing (he sleeps in the pack n play next to me).

Not sure I'll ever be ready for him to move to a different room.

That said, I feel like I'm less freaked out than I used to be. I'm now okay if I'm not sleeping facing him, and don't need to keep the monitor on at night so I can see him with the night vision, even though he's right next to me.

Baby steps....

I'm paranoid too. I actually like it when we have to spend the night in the hospital and they have the monitor on her because i can stop worrying about her stopping breathing in the middle of the night and me not catching it. (I don't like the hospital part, just the monitor part, i kind of want one for home)

I'm a STM and I still have to put my hand on LO's chest before I go to bed. I'm not worried about the toddler anymore though (well, at least not the breathing at night thing).
