We're only three weeks into first grade, but so far things are going great. We got a glowing report from DD's teacher, and she said she loves DD. That was so good to hear.
Since DD1's diagnosis (ADHD, SPD), DH and I have gone back and forth over whether we think that's the right diagnosis. The social piece was the part we were always unsure about. We felt like DD's social skills were age-appropriate but worried that we weren't seeing the whole picture or that we were seeing her through mommy/daddy goggles. The school's SLP did a couple of classroom observations, and both she and DD's teacher feel that DD's peer interactions are age-appropriate, so that's good news.
Anxiety continues to be the thing that DD struggles with the most, but she really seems to trust her teacher. I think this teacher "gets" DD a lot more than her teacher did last year.
All in all a good meeting with lots of positive stuff. Fingers crossed for the rest of the year.
