Best humidifier?

My poor baby boy turned 2 months old today & we're celebrating it with his first cold :( He's very congested, sniffly & full of snot. We've been using the sucker & set him in the bathroom with a hot shower running for steam.

We have a humidifier in our room that we'll move closer to his bassinet, but we've had it for a while so we're in the market for a new one. Can anyone recommend a good one to get? Thanks!

Re: Best humidifier?

  • We have a Crane humidifier and I really like it. Before that we had a ProCare and it was awful compared to the Crain. We have a family friend who has kids with crazy allergies. She said a few years ago she tried them all and the Crane worked best, so that's what I went with and haven't been disappointed. I also like that I don't have to buy filters for the Crane (although you can if you want) where the other one I had to in order for it to work. I'm interested to see if anyone else thinks other are better, though, since I haven't tried more than these two.

  • Dr grandpa says no humidifiers as they are a breeding ground for mold and mildew.

  • We are using a Crane cool mist. The directions say to leave the door open that way moisture doesn't accumulate on the walls/furniture which will avoid mold. The only annoying this is that it says to empty and refill every night. I've been doing that but not sure if it's totally neccesary, but I think it has really been helping DD's congestion.
