Anyone else have a big gap between kids?

hi there, I'm new here and I'm currently 10+2 weeks pregnant with my second baby! :) my first born will be 14 next week! I was 17 when I had my first baby and will be 31 when this little one arrives! Anyone else have a gap like this? I'm a little nervous to say the least.

Re: Anyone else have a big gap between kids?

  • Thanks everyone for replying it's good to know I'm not alone! I'm very excited but nervous at the same time! Our daughter is over the moon about having a little bro/sis which has helped us to get used to the idea of another little one running around!
  • In my family there are major gaps between us kids. My parents pretty much raised three sets of kids. There is 21 years from the youngest to the oldest. Currently our ages are 34, 32, 22, 20, 13. We definitely have a different dynamic than most families but it works. Plus my mom always talks about how great it was to have extra help!
  • I have a 10 year gap between my oldest daughter (now 12) and my youngest daughter (almost 2)... and this baby#3 is due April 5th.  At firs tI was pretty nervous about a big age gap, but now I love it!  My oldest daughter is an amazing help- and her and her little sister are inseparable.  It's adorable!  She helps me with her, and is so excited to have another little baby in the house soon!

  • There is a 10 year gap between me and my oldest sister and an 8 1/2 year gap between me and the next sister. When I was born the 10 year old had so much fun having a baby but the 8 year old wasn't so fond of losing her 8 year long "baby" status.

  • There will 9 years difference between my first and this one.
  • My daughter will be 14 when this little one is born. It was hard for me to wrap my brain around starting over but my DH doesn't have children. I was a young single parent in college, working full time the first time around so part of me is looking forward to a much different experience... While part of me feels guilty that this one will have so much more than I was ever able to give my daughter when she was little. Despite, we're all excited! She's SUPER excited and my in-laws are over the moon! Should be interesting starting over for sure.
  • Oh yes we have a huge gap. Oldest is 13 and youngest is 9 by the time the baby come they will be almost 14 (in aug)and 10 (in jan) baby is due April 8th. We are all supper excited our daughter is more so now then at 3 when son was due! Built in baby sitter too !
  • My boys will be 15, 13, and 10 when this little one is born. I think they will be amazing big brothers. When DH and I got married 4 years ago the first thing they asked was when they were getting a new baby and could we make it a girl please. While it's crazy to think about going back to diapers and sleepless nights again, DH and I are very excited. We haven't told anyone yet, I'm going to wait a couple more weeks until I'm at 14 weeks before announcing. Nobody thinks we're going to have kids so it's going to be a big surprise for everyone.
  • My stepdaughter Will be 17 when I have this lo. She's happy and I'm happy she will be around to help before she goes to college! My DH is freaking out one in college and baby?!?! Oh well when you married you knew I wanted kids!
  • My boys will be 19,13 and 5 when this baby is born.
  • Hi we will have a big gap! I am currently 9 weeks 3 days and my son is almost 12. He was ivf and we were told we wouldn't be able to have babies on our own. But SURPRISE!!
We are so excited and finally my son is warming up to the idea of having a sibling.
  • Technically not me but DH has an 18 & 13 year old.

  • My oldest will be 8 when baby bean gets here
  • I'm the youngest of 5 in my family. The oldest of my siblings is 17 years older and the closest to me is 7 years older than me. The age gap doesn't really make too much of a difference as far as relationships go, but at times it felt like I was an only child. As soon as I moved out though it felt like there was no age gap and I'm closer to my siblings than I was before. I really liked having the age gap though. It all will work out well :)
  • 9 years difference with my first and this baby
  • My daughter just turned 11. I had no idea she would be so very excited about the new baby.
  • My oldest will be 11, my son will be 8 1/2 and my youngest will be 5 1/4 when this LO arrives. My youngest will be in kindergarten next year.
