My Fitness Pal & BF

Is there an option to account for BF? I know when I did WW years ago there was. If not, how many extra cals should I be factoring in? For some reason 500 sticks in my head, but I think that was in reference to extra calories burned while BF. In your experience, will supply drop if I don't add in extra calories? Should I focus more on excercise than cutting my calories?

  • FWIW, my daily target is 1,300. After entering my breakfast and snack I have 400 left for the day. FML.

    I give myself 300 calories extra for breastfeeding
  • Also I don't think 1300 is healthy for anyone....
  • You used to be able to put breastfeeding in as a food with negative calories, but I tried doing that the other day and it didn't give me those calories. You could also add it as a cardio exercise (since MFP tells you to eat whatever cardio. Calories you burn...) but just know that anyone who "follows" you will see it (if you care...)

    That was the mfp recommendation that popped up from last year (before I was pg). I think it was just based on my height, weight, and daily activity level. I'm short and never been one for exercise, which is probably why it sounds low. And I agree, especially considering I ate nearly three quarters of that before lunch. To make matters worse, none of that I would consider "junk" or a splurge. A good wake-up call that "nutritious" is not synonymous with "calorie/diet-conscious."

  • I added "breastfeeding twins" for 1000 cals in the cardiovascular section. I allot myself 1000 calories, then when I add my "cardio" I have 2k calories a day.
