Cloth diaper mamas

My dd2 has a raw rear end in her butt crack.  It's the top if her crack and I need to say she has an unfortunately long (?) butt crack.  It's not anywhere near her anus, but above it and it's raw to the point of bleeding today.  What would you try on it?  I have used bacitracin, butt paste, lots of changes, diaper free time (hard at daycare though), drying her carefully and yet it's still getting worse.  We have a doctor appointment today, what would you suggest?
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

Re: Cloth diaper mamas

  • I have these made up and so far, he's been rash free. I just put a little on when it looks like he's getting red of the clay one and the other one I use overnight as a barrier.

Recipe #2: please put the following on the label. I may make the powder too. It's the grayer balm.
    Antimicrobial Clay Balm
    Ingredients:
    - Shea Butter
    - Coconut Oil
    Please print the info below
    Diaper Rash Cream
    Ingredients:
    - Shea Butter
    - Coconut Oil
    - Beeswax
    - Vegetable Glycerine

I've never heard of that.  Do you just have daycare put a liner in the diaper then?  I am terrified they'll screw it up.  (I sound like I have such little faith, they are great, I really just don't want to be difficult for them.)

  • We use coconut oil too. If the rash was major I'd probably do disposables and a strong rash cream. I wouldn't trust daycare not to mess up either ;)

  • @dizzycooks, you can get the clay and vegetable glycerin at most health stores, or on amazon if you're desperate.

  • Aquafor is what we used for our elderly patients with sores on their bodies. It works really well.

I also like the suggestion of destin with disposables. If you just get a small pack of diapers and the cream for day care, then when she gets home she could go diaperless and get a lot of air so the rash can breath.

  • Thanks everyone.  We got a new butt paste from the doc and confirmed that it is a fungal infection that is infected.  She is in disposibles for the rest of the week while we treat it and I bleach all my diapers.  Disposible diapers just gross me out, but I am glad we have a solution.  I am sure she got the infection from the meds I was on earlier this month :(
