Yet more happy news after NT scan

Some of you may recall that at our 12 week NT scan our baby had a high nuchal number (3.6).  They were very concerned with a trisomy disorder or a heart defect.  Our 10 week Harmony showed no trisomy, and then a later scan of the nuchal fold showed it was well, well within normal, so we had a ton of relief at that point.Today, we had our fetal echocardiogram.  Baby looks great! There is one small part of the heart that they cannot see well (both while in utero and when the baby is newly born and small, i.e. very hard defect to detect), but the said that everything they can see, which is a lot, looks great.  We now have 100% confidence that her little ticker is a winner!

Just thought I'd put that out there, that a high nuchal number can turn out just fine.  Obviously, we won't know for sure until our bunny gets here, but all the actual diagnostics seem to confirm that things are A-OK.  Screenings are just that: screening for possibilities, for increased likelihood, not an actual diagnosis in themselves.

Anyway, just wanted to share our baby joy!  Oh, and pictures were kind of a bust because she spent the whole time with her face smooched into the placenta, like a big fluffy pillow.  It made the 3-D pics pretty funny, though.  I'll try to post one when I get a chance.

Thanks!

"Things separate from their stories have no meaning. They are only shapes. Of a certain size and color. A certain weight. When their meaning has become lost to us they no longer have even a name. The story on the other hand can never be lost from its place in the world for it is that place.” ― Cormac McCarthy, The Crossing
