hospital bag

Anyone start packing their hospital bag yet? As far as outfit for baby ... Are you doing NB, 0-3 month, one of each?? Some of the NB stuff looks so tiny!! Also, PICS! Let's see the outfits!! :)

Hopefully this hasn't already been posted, I've kind of been MIA

Re: hospital bag

  • I think there was a thread about this recently but not totally sure. I will bring some newborn and some 0 - 3 months just in case. I agree that the newborn stuff looks so tiny. I haven't started to pack yet but plan to do the baby's bag first sometime next week or the following (by 35 weeks).

  • I am packing a coming home outfit that is NB (DS was 7 pounds and NB was perfect...actually the pants were a little big) and a few NB onesies. We live very close to the hospital so if by some crazy chance they are too small, I can have DH grab some 0-3 months onesies. Mostly with DS we just kept him swaddled in the hospital with a onesie.

  • I'll bring newborn sizes since my kid will likely be on the smaller size.  DS1 was just 6 lbs,3 oz, and he wore newborn sizes for at least his first two months!

I ordered a "Big Brother" "Little Brother" set from Etsy, and DS2 will hopefully wear that (and DS1 will hopefully wear his too).  It looks like this post, except that I got dinosaurs as the graphic rather than the bike.  https://www.etsy.com/transaction/224687873

  • I'm packing some NB and 0-3 onesies and sleepers.  I'm not doing a special coming home outfit, I don't think.

  • I started packing the diaper bag but not my bag. Honestly, I mainly use everything I'll need there so I'll pack mine last minute. I'm only bringing newborn clothes. N used those for a month last time so if this baby doesn't fit newborn I'll be very surprised. We live super close to the hospital and DH will be in and out all day long as he will be watching N and she will only be able to do short stints at the hospital, so if I need larger clothing he can pick it up.

DD1 was 7 lbs 2 oz at birth but she SWAM in newborn outfits. I think I might pack one 0-3 month outfit or sleeper just in case, but I'm primarily bringing newborn.

Edit to try to add pics...fail.
  • I haven't packed anything yet, but I'll be bringing a 0-3 month outfit to bring the LO home in.  DS was almost 10 lbs and all I had was a NB size outfit with me, which barely fit him.  The 0-3 might be a little big, but that's ok.

  • When I packed my bag for DS1 I was told not to bother with newborn and only get 0-3. Big mistake! He was born early and was swimming in 0-3, to the point he couldn't wear them at all. My mother had to make an emergency run to the local shops and get some newborn sizes and she got some "early baby" size stuff as well which actually fit the best. I'm not suggesting that you have early baby sizes ready but personally I would recommend at least a few newborn size things.
  • I haven't packed anything yet! I'm going to start washing his clothes today and try to have everything packed by 36 weeks. I am going to pack 1 newborn sleeper and 0-3 month outfits. We are expecting him to be over 8 pounds!

  • I packed a new born sleeper, 0-3 month sleeper, and a few onesies of NB and 0-3 mos sizes. The must have for me was this adorable hat my MIL gave us. Even if he comes after Halloween he is still wearing it home! November is totally still pumpkin season!

  • During our child birth class at the hospital the instructor said all we need to bring is an outfit to wear home, that they dress the babies while they're there.  So I'm just bringing 1 NB outfit and 1 0-3 outfit to wear home, plus mittens/hat/blanket for car.

  • NB was giant on DD (she was 6.6lbs). DS will most likely be similar so I'll pack one NB outfit (footed PJS from baby gap) for him. Honestly, I don't bring much for baby, they have everything at the hospital.

  • OD was 8lb 7oz and OS was 9lb 2oz so I am not predicting this to be a small baby... That being said I am bringing a mix of NB and 0-3 month onesies and sleepers as I find different brands fit differently... Really though she is going to spend most of the time in the hospital just wearing a diaper and swaddled...

  • I'll pack a preemie and newborn size sleeper, for either boy or girl, since we're team green. So far baby isn't looking to be any larger than the average, so he/she should fit in those. Other than that..socks, probably a hat for either, and a few blankets. Ah!! Talking about this makes me want to go do it all now!! I can't wait to put my baby into some adorable clothes and take it home! ;)
  • I was planning on packing a big bag but that may be difficult b/c I'm going to be more ready to pack her back then I am mine. do people typically bring the baby stuff in a separate diaper bag?

I always just used one bag for me and baby. The hospital sends you home with so.much.stuff that it's easier to just have one bag to worry about.
